Akane stared at the body in front of her, cold and lifeless. She couldn't help but feel bad remembering how she used to complain about his boring meetings. She glanced at Aguni who was blankly staring at the body.

She couldn't help but lean on Chishiya as she let out a sigh. Even though she wanted to leave this hell, she still felt worried about what was gonna happen to the place. Akane heard that the No.3 also died with Hatter, but she didn't really like that guy.

Just like that, Aguni was made the new No.1 and they moved up by number. She didn't mind because he was a good leader to the militants. He was also the strongest person here so it was the best option.

She looked at her locker bracelet, trying to sink in her new rank. They had drastically changed her rank from No.8 to No.3. Now, she was just below Niragi.

Akane couldn't help but feel uneasy. The others probably hated her because of this. She kept glancing between Aguni and Niragi. Aguni was the boss but Niragi was probably the one who persuaded him to give her a higher rank.

When the executives were dismissed, the militants stayed back. Everyone was silent as they waited for Aguni's orders.

"Tonight, we shall announce the death of Hatter. Prepare yourselves." And with that, they were dismissed but there were two new militants that were in charge of getting rid of the body so the two stayed back.

Akane didn't really ponder over it, just another day at the borderlands. Death didn't faze her that much and she wasn't even that close to him to begin with.

"Wait, I need to tell you something." Niragi held her wrist to stop her from walking as soon as nobody was around anymore.

She nervously looked at his hand and then at him. He slowly took off his hand and put it in his pocket.

"We should talk tonight. After the announcement."

Akane couldn't think of anything as to why they couldn't just talk now.

"How about now? We're already talking," She gestured to the two of them. The hallway was deserted, it was the top floor so not many people came here.

"No, let's talk later." Niragi said firmly, making her raise an eyebrow.

There was a sudden change in his demeanor, like he had gone back to the Niragi she first met here. It made her a little pissed that he was basically demanding her now. She only agreed to it before because she wanted him to leave.

Akane didn't say anything and just quickly walked away. She didn't want him to get the idea that he could just make her do something he wanted.

Along the way, she met Arisu and Usagi. They looked like they were in a serious conversation and that they were somewhat nervous. She furrowed her eyebrows at the sight.

"Arisu! Usagi!" She yelled, getting their attention.

The two didn't look like they were happy seeing her, more like surprised and anxious. Akane couldn't help but feel they were keeping something from her.

"Well, I was just going to my room. See you guys!" Akane said before quickly leaving. There was an uneasy feeling at the pit of her stomach, like something bad was about to happen.

She shook her head to clear her thoughts and lightly tapped her head with the tip of her gun. As soon as she reached her room, she looked around expecting Chishiya to be there but he wasn't.

This didn't really bother her that much. She just put her gun down beside her and laid on the bed. Even though she just basically did nothing, she was exhausted. Akane still had a week or two in her visa so she could relax for a little while. Slowly, she drifted off to sleep not even realizing it until she finally closed her eyes.

---------

Akane suddenly had a dream that she was falling, making her wake up in a second. She felt her heart beating so fast as she looked outside. It was getting dark and the militants were supposed to be out in the lobby for the announcement.

She quickly took a bath and dressed in shorts and a plain dark green shirt before getting out taking her gun with her. Instead of flip flops, she had worn her rubber shoes incase anything were to happen.

Aguni once told them that they suspected someone from The Beach shot Hatter to start a revolution. She wasn't against the idea but she didn't want to think that it was probably someone she knew.

Akane arrived at the balcony inside, overlooking the people in the lobby. Upon her arrival, Niragi had looked at her. She tried her best to ignore him and stood on the other side of Aguni.

She couldn't help but love the feeling she got at that moment. It was like looking at her subjects. Akane almost laughed at the thought. Being No.3 really boosted her already high ego.

"Quiet! All of you....you better listen!" Niragi yelled, making the place silent.

She smirked to herself. Akane wasn't the only one who was loving the power they had now.

As soon as everyone shut their mouth, Aguni stepped forward and announced Hatter's death. As expected, the people were in a buzz. Niragi had to yell at them again to keep quiet.

Akane took this time to scan the people there, she noticed all four of them were missing. Her heart pounded as she looked around her and let out a sigh of relief when she saw Kuina and Chishiya at the side above them. But Arisu and Usagi were still missing.

She noticed that Chishiya was holding the walkie talkies the militants always used whenever they go out to the city. It was bizarre because she didn't think someone else would have that. Akane couldn't help but feel suspicious of him.

But she wanted to trust him so she turned back her attention to Aguni who just announced that he was the new king of The Beach. What surprised her was he had taken the time to mention her and Niragi as No.2 and No.3.

"Aguni..."

Akane jumped back in surprise and stared as Chishiya whispered something in Aguni's ear. Whatever he said made Aguni angry.

Without another word, he started walking and the militants dismissed everyone before following him.

Akane stared at Chishiya's back as they all walked to what used to be Hatter's place. She had that feeling in the pit of her stomach again.

When they got there, she stared in horror at Arisu. He was by a closet and looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Just then, two other militants came in holding Usagi in between them. She couldn't believe what was happening.

Her eyes slowly went back to Chishiya and stared at him in horror. He payed no attention to her and just took a quick glance at the painting on the left side of the room. Akane made the mistake of trusting him. Niragi was right after all.

He didn't need to tell her anything. She knew from his behavior alone that he had something to do with this. Akane knew Arisu and Usagi wouldn't do anything as deadly as this all on their own. She wasn't dumb enough to ignore the fact that Chishiya had always been after the cards. It's just that he was smart enough not to do anything on his own and just got someone else to do things for him.

Akane wondered if Chishiya ever thought of using her instead of Arisu. Her heart dropped at the thought. It was possible that he did consider her.

As soon as Arisu noticed Usagi, he yelled for her. Akane squeezed her eyes shut as Niragi hit him with his gun. They were now traitors and she didn't have enough power to stop them. Furthermore, she felt a little betrayed. They were going to steal the cards and leave. They didn't tell her anything and that meant she wasn't included in whatever they wanted to do after they stole the cards.

It hurt her because even though she also had a lot of cards there, she never thought of stealing even a single one. Because that meant that she was selfish. Back then, maybe she was selfish but upon meeting them she had changed. Akane considered them so stealing the cards weren't an option.

Her eyes flickered to Chishiya. She knew he was the one who planned this. Akane glared at him like it would put him six feet under. None of this would've happened if it wasn't for him.

Poor Arisu and Usagi had walked right in to his trap.
