"I refuse."

The masked joker leaned back in his seat at the answer. Chishiya was calm just as always. He didn't waste time in knowing everything they had to offer, he just didn't want to stay in the borderlands anymore.

Staying here meant jeopardizing his future with Akane. He wanted to give her a better life in the real world.

"Well, should you change your mind you know where to go."

And with that, Chishiya went home. His home wasn't a place, but a person. It didn't matter to him if he wasn't hers, it really didn't.

"So?" Akane asked as soon as he got inside.

Chishiya sighed and walked up to her before embracing her. He felt exhausted and she was the only one who could take it away.

"I refused," Chishiya hugged her even tighter. "I want to build a future with you in the real world."

Akane frowned. She didn't want to tell him that she had already accepted the Joker's offer. He had always thought that she was only temporarily taking advantage of the Q♦️ perks, that she'd eventually refuse when the right time comes. Well, that time will never come. Not for her at least.

She leaned back and mustered up a smile for him. It wasn't going to be easy living here alone so she wanted to just seize the moment.

"I almost forgot I made dinner! Well, it's not done yet so you should take a shower first and by the time you get done, it'll already be on the table." Akane said, moving towards the kitchen.

"Or I can have my dinner in the shower?" Chishiya smirked at her dumbfounded look.

"What?" Akane was visibly confused. It was a weird thing to ask.

Chishiya almost rolled his eyes while he walked towards her. Akane watched as he got behind her and hugged her.

"What are you doing?" She leaned away when his face got too close.

"It's funny. He fucked another girl yet you're still loyal to him." Chishiya humorlessly chuckled.

Akane frowned at his words, the scene still burned at the back of her mind.

"This isn't about loyalty." She stated, unsure what it was that was holding her back.

"Oh really?" Chishiya got close to her again, trapping her with her back to the counter.

Akane held her breath, trying not to give in to him. He was very tempting and he had already offered himself as someone she can use to forget Niragi.

That name kept ringing inside her head, constantly hurting her. She was confused why she couldn't just forget him and let go.

"Well, assuming it is about loyalty, can I ask your body if it's as loyal as you?" Chishiya whispered as he leaned towards her neck, his fingertips running along her side.

Her body shivered, reacting to his touch. Chishiya smirked at this. No matter how much she tries to resist him, he'll still get her. Even if it's just her body.

"You'll learn to love me again eventually," He whispered before giving her a quick kiss on her shoulder.

Akane sighed in relief when Chishiya finally left to go shower. She felt as if she was going to give in if he did things like that longer.

Clearing her thoughts away, she focused on her cooking. It was a great way to distract her from what was going on. She only hoped that everyone else are somewhat okay.

Half an hour later, Chishiya finally got out of the shower. She wondered what took him so long but didn't dare to ask him.

Chishiya walked into the kitchen, still wrapped around a towel. Akane almost choked when she saw him like that. Her head turned away from him instantly.
