Akane stopped moving and looked at Chishiya straight in the eyes, a feeling of suspicion inside her. Chishiya stared, not feeling any guilt at all. He did it for her, for them.
"You didn't have anything to do with it, did you?" Akane dared to ask him, her voice quiet and distant.
"What? No! Even after what you saw, you're going to trust him more than me?!" Chishiya scoffed, seemingly offended.
Akane bowed her head, feeling foolish now. Even after seeing him like that with her own two eyes, she still wanted to hope it was all a misunderstanding.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't be taking this out on you." She whispered, looking down and realizing they were in the lake.
Akane was so lost earlier that she hadn't realized what she tried to do. The water was up to their waist level and she had been lucky enough that Chishiya was there or else she would have gone further.
She hugged Chishiya tightly, grateful for him always being there for her. His words were running in her mind but she couldn't bring herself to do it, to use him.
Chishiya pulled away first and smiled, everything was going his way. He put a finger under her chin and made her look at him. Her eyes were so beautiful yet so empty at that moment.
"Let me make you forget him." Chishiya whispered before he leaned in to kiss her.
But Akane turned her head to the side before he could even do it. Chishiya sighed and just hugged her again. He was going to be patient with her.
"I can wait. Even if it takes an entire lifetime." Chishiya meant that. He just didn't want anyone else.
Akane smiled sadly to herself. If she had stayed with Chishiya, she probably wouldn't have felt like this. She felt so helpless. Niragi had broken her to the point of no return, she was even about to commit suicide.
She realized that she loved herself more and that it didn't matter now since she was already bound to the borderlands. Chishiya leaned back and wiped her tears away.
Akane stared at him and wondered why someone like him would stick around with someone like her. She had given him nothing but pain yet here he is taking away hers.
Her eyes stared into the depths of his eyes, the same eyes that captured her before. Chishiya smiled when he realized she was actually staring at him.
"Don't look at me like that and expect me not to kiss you." He joked.
Akane gave a little smile before looking down again. Him being here really lightened up her mood.
"Let's go, you're feezing!" Chishiya pulled her out of the lake and got the rocks out of her jacket.
Just as they were about to really leave, Akane glanced at the lake again feeling like this would be the last time she'd ever go there. The place had so many painful memories that she didn't want to remember ever.
Chishiya led them both through the dark streets until they finally got to the place Akane was staying at. One of the perks of being a new face card holder, they had electricity, water and food.
"You're going to meet someone tomorrow." Akane stated to which Chishiya merely nodded.
They weren't really in the mood to talk about business at the moment. Chishiya took a seat beside her on the couch and saw her tense up. He wondered how she felt uncomfortable with him but he knew she couldn't be still suspecting him.
Chishiya moved closer and grabbed her chin making her turn to him. She had that innocent look in her face again. He smiled, trying to contain himself. It would be bad if he would force her into doing anything with him.
He was going to give her a few days and see if she would eventually warm up to him. It was expected that she wouldn't jump right back to him, it was only his hopeful thinking.
After they got something to eat, they took a shower separately and changed into more comfortable clothes. Then Chishiya led her to the bedroom. He didn't really plan on pushing his luck, he just wanted to tuck her in bed.
Akane laid down, feeling exhausted. Everything had drained her out that her body felt heavy. She smiled at Chishiya who was looking at her still.
Suddenly, he bent down and gave her a kiss on the forehead. It somehow made her feel calm, like she was safe. After Chishiya left the room, her thoughts started to consume her again.
Everything happened so suddenly and she really didn't expect something like that would happen just after a few hours of her gone. She couldn't help but feel like she wasn't important to him at all.
With a heavy heart, she finally decided to let go of him emotionally. She was going to be staying here in the borderlands after all so it was pointless in loving him. After an hour or so, Akane had finally fallen asleep.
Chishiya stirred the glass all the while looking at its contents. He was celebrating, drinking himself to sleep. His eyes hazily glanced at the pitcher of water and remembered what happened earlier.
He didn't feel any remorse at all. Even when he was trying to stop Akane from going in the water, he felt like he would still do it again.
His mind was constantly changing. Sometimes he would think of giving up, sometimes he would go through such drastic measures just for a hopeful chance. She had changed him for the worst.
Chishiya drank until there was nothing left in the bottle. After that, he sauntered over to the couch and laid back on it. He was tired and sleepy now. He slept that night with a smile.

Niragi groaned, slowly waking up. He abruptly opened his eyes remembering what happened yesterday. His eyes darted to the girl beside him and felt like he was thrown a bucket of ice cold water. He couldn't remember what happened, if anything ever did happen. Niragi racked his brain why that bastard would do this to him and finally realized that Akane was probably here yesterday and there was a feeling inside telling him she saw them like this.
He put his head in his hands and groaned once again. This time, he was literally fucked. There was just no way that she would ever believe anything that came out of his mouth after this whole fiasco. His hands turned to fists just thinking about how Chishiya played him dirty and how he was probably using this to his advantage.
Niragi quickly got up and pick up his clothes, throwing them away. He then found some new clothes and took a quick shower before putting them on.
He walked outside and got in the car. Just like yesterday, he was going to try and find her. Even if she won't give him a chance to explain, even if she won't listen, he still wanted to see her.
Niragi felt a little hope in him that maybe somewhere deep inside her, she knew he wouldn't do that to her. But it was far fetched.
"I am going to kill you, Shuntarou Chishiya."
