Today I bring you some sweetness! Okay, not some......A LOT!!!!!! Hopefully it's not too much that you go into a sugar coma! I really enjoyed writing this chapter especially since I know things will be getting worse before they get better. I think I needed this moment between these two to remind myself how much they love each other and how strong that love is. They will need that strength later. Thank you for reading everyone and please don't forget to vote and comment at the end! Hugs!!
P.S. Happy Belated Birthday to Lan Zhan, Lan Wangji, Hanguang-jun and Wei Ying's Lan Er-gege!
"Lan Zhan, where are we going?" Wei Ying whined loudly. "I'm cold. Who knew the weather in Gusu could change so quickly?" He hugged himself and ran his hands up and down his arms frantically to try and provide his body with some warmth. He could see his breath as it left his body and pretended that he was a fire-breathing dragon to pass the time. But, eventually, the dragon got cold and more bored.
"I told you to bring your outer robe." Lan Zhan reminded him sternly. "You said, 'No, I'll be fine.' So, now you will just have to be fine." Lan Zhan continued walking forward, no longer willing to deal with the walking temper tantrum who was following a few steps behind him. He did, however, take a small peek at his husband under his long eyelashes. Wei Ying's cheeks were pinkish along with his perfect little nose. Wangji could not help but smile to himself at his adorable Wei Ying as Wei blew warm air into his own hands to over dramatize how cold he was. He almost let a giggle escape when his beloved let out a loud 'brrrrr' trying to get his attention.
Lan Zhan had purposefully wandered around the mountains of Cloud Recesses longer than he should have so that Wei Ying would hopefully get confused and not realize where Wangji was leading him. Thanks to Lan Zhan's deviousness, it was working.
"Oh my god! I totally forgot! What about Fan Yingpei?" Wei Ying asked, remembering that his friend was still back at Cloud Recesses.
"Brother sent him home. Told him we would not be back for a while."
"What? I didn't even get to say goodbye! Now Fan's going to think I'm rude AND a bad friend. And.......wait......what? We won't be back for a while? Where are you taking me, Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying huffed defiantly.
Lan Zhan just kept walking without so much as a glance back to answer Wei Ying. His plan to remind Wei of their love and drive away the evil inside him had only just begun and he was not about to let anything, or anyone, ruin it. He was especially not willing to sacrifice his husband's well-being for someone they just met and gave Wangji an uneasy feeling on top of that.
Wei Ying followed Lan Zhan obediently knowing that whatever his husband had plotted, it was for his happiness alone. But, he also knew that Lan Zhan was enjoying the fact that he had been right about the cold and was most likely laughing at him on the inside. Well, Wuxian knew how to warm himself up AND make his husband pay at the same time. He started to fall behind a bit more and let his steps occasionally falter. He kept quiet, only allowing the chattering of his teeth to break the silence.
As they walked, there appeared a dusting of snow on the trees around them and their footsteps started to crunch over the heavy frost and dried leaves. Lan Zhan looked back at Wei Ying and noticed his husband looking tired. But, he kept moving knowing that once they reached their destination, which was now very close, Wei Ying would forget all about the cold.
"Lan Zhan." Wei Ying whispered. "I'm.........so cold."
"Wei Ying." Lan Zhan said encouragingly. "It is just a little farther. Stop your whi........."
