"You're not staying?" Shoko asked her friend in the wee hours of the morning. She had her white lab coat on, her hair down natural.
"What are you doing up this early?" Kumori asked as she strapped her gear on. She had a mission at the crack of dawn, and just her luck it was the crack of dawn.
"Didn't feel like sleeping," Shoko shrugged. "I'm a healer for the event as well, kinda got to get ready. You didn't answer my question."
"I don't know. If I'm lucky I might. Everyone meeting at eleven right? The event starts at like noon. I have," Kumori glanced at her phone. "5 hours to get back and finish my mission. Sounds doable, but things almost never go as planned."
"Well the girls' are getting back together so it'd be nice if you came here too," Shoko said. "So hurry up on your mission."
"Mei-san is gonna be there?" Kumori raised a brow. She tightened the belt around her thigh, having just finished lacing her boots.
"Yeah. Gojo said something about surveillance," Shoko answered. "He's gonna be revealing Itadori-kun today right?"
"Yeah he is. But I don't think the surveillance is just for Itadori's safety," Kumori let her eyes gaze at the horizon. "Well if I wanna get here on time, I should go."
"Hurry the fuck up!" Shoko called out to her departing friend

It was odd how everything this time, went as scheduled. Probably because everyone thought Itadori was dead. Why was she so sure that something shitty would happen? Because assassination missions almost never went right. A security guard lingering longer because he's bored. A girl walking past an alley.
Now, a shaman killing people is usually a cursed user, but systems are held by governments. If the government sanctioned it, then it was entirely legal for her to kill humans. That's why Kumori says no one's innocent.
Technically it should never take her long. It can take her quite literally a second to do her missions, the bulk of it was the transport. But she shortened that by memorizing all the streets in not only Tokyo, but all of Japan, minus the islands. It would be useless for her to do that since she wouldn't always be sure if there was gonna be a cloud that'd stay long enough for her to shadow travel over it.
She just entered the house, the person might blink once, and then it was all over. A quiet, quick death. She didn't know if that was nice or not. But she always got a profile on the victims, to know why she was killing them. Assassination missions were quicker than exorcising ones.
Kumori stepped out of the house and looked at the mountaintops of Kyoto. She probably could visit her family, not like she'd want to. Good thing these missions were usually in secret so she wasn't really on record for them to know. Utahime probably could've taken this mission.
Oh wait no, she had the exchange event. Speaking of the exchange event, Kumori glanced down at her watch for the time. 10:30. She'd probably be able to make there if she took short trips.
Kumori was happy that Itadori would be reunited with his friends again. She saw how it affected not only him but his classmates. They didn't come to her, even though she told them they could if they wanted to talk about anything. But she knew it affected everyone.
She had sat as Kugisaki asked her question about her own experiences on losing teammates. Kumori knew there was a small part of the girl that wanted to ball and cry, but she was too stubborn to cry. Kumori wished they weren't presented with a childhood like this.
She had sat with Megumi as well. He could mask his emotions a lot better than Kugisaki, but Kumori could tell that his classmate's death still hit a small part of him at least. I know the fandom thinks Megumi wallowed up and cried when itadori died, but I think it's a little romanticized. Like Megumi could have went on a sasuke rampage when Tsumiki went into that coma but he didn't. Everyone left him but he still chose the right side so I think he can keep his head levelled. But I do think he's a good reader.
