Wes's pov:
"Hey, are you trying to pick a fight with me?" I yelled at her back. She didn't respond and strolled away in anger. She wasn't able to go away though, since she slammed into a man with white hair.
It was hard to get a clear look at his face since half of his face was covered with his hair. But fortunately, the earring he wore in his left ear was very recognizable. Alissa nodded when he muttered something inaudible- probably an apology. I followed him through my eyes as he chose a seat in the corner of the restaurant. I took out my cell phone and instantly called Captain.
He picked up after three lengthy bells. "What is it? If you want an apology, you aren't getting in. You were promised the break and the date and you got it. I never promised anything about whom you were going to have a date with"
"I hardly care about the date right now my dear bastard friend. Instead, I have found someone whom you have been searching for for a while. It's him. He is here in the city, shamelessly eating a burger in the restaurant. Thought I should tell you before I say anything to Micheal and Kevin" I said, keeping my eyes at the man who was currently flirting with the waitress.
Captain took a deep breath on the other end. "Make sure he stays there. This is my opportunity. I won't need Mr. Trainor's help if I catch him now"
"Your love life is a huge mess Captain. I pity you too much to be furious at you right now" I sighed.
"It would be a pity if I don't catch him today and give you a demotion right?"
"Forget what I said earlier, Cruel Captain. Come quickly, I will try to keep him here" I growled and cut the call, and then I went to sit near him. One of my hands inside my suit, to take out the revolver I kept with me at all times.
Captain's pov:
I can't help but stare at the dozing figure next to me. It's dawn already and I don't know if I should wake her up since she looks so deep in slumber.
How and when did this happen? How come I, who had vowed to stay away from love, ended up in this blissful mess? When did she dig up the way inside my heart and make a place for her to stay in there forever? How come I am wondering all these cheesy things?
I sighed, turning on the other side, disregarding my eyes the view of her peaceful face. It's not right for me to give in to her that easily. Would she want to be with me if she knew everything about me? All of my mistakes? All of me?
Even though I shouldn't speculate on her behalf, I still think she wouldn't want to be with me. She shouldn't be. I am not the savior she thinks I am in her eyes. Maybe if I haven't fallen for Jen and treated her the same as any normal civilian, things might not be so complicated now. But I don't regret meeting her.
But I was pretty much a goner when she met me on that windy day searching for something on the ground. I had felt a sudden increase in my heartbeat when the moment I met her eyes. The more I looked at her, the more interesting she seemed. It was as if I was lured to come out of those walls I worked so hard to build. I feel guilty and happy at the same time. Guilty that I know I have a responsibility to take care of but ever since she came, I have been too lost in her to focus on anything else.
I am not sure if this is the right decision but I have come too far and fallen in too deep to care anymore. I am not going to turn away from her. I am not going to push her away. Instead, I will do what I do the best. Protect her from anything that tries to harm her.
It was afternoon already and she was still dozing. I guess she is tired. I tried not to disturb her while I cleaned the house and prepared lunch for us. I am aware she doesn't like my house. It makes me a little conscious that I am not anywhere near her standard of living.
I was preparing the eggs for us when I got Wes's message. He wants me to send him the reservation details. So he had yet not found that there was a huge surprise waiting for him. I know I am supposed to feel bad for tricking them both into this but well...I never really said who they are going on a date with.
It's not my mistake, they didn't bother asking. I forwarded him the mail with an amused thought threatening to lift the corners of my mouth. It wasn't very late when he called me though. I picked up and it took all of my strength to throw away the pan in my hand and run away to where Wes is now. No, I can't wake her up. She needs to stay away. Far away from danger.
What if she disappears as well? No... I won't allow that to happen.
Wes's pov:
Before I could put the revolver on the back of his head, he turned with a huge smirk on his tiny half-visible face. "Wes how nice to see you!"
I forced it upon my face as well. "Yes good to see you," I mumbled, taking out my hand from inside the suit and extending it towards him. He shook it firmly with a knowing gaze.
I sat opposite him and he sipped his ice cream shake without care. He reminds me so much of Kevin, just a little more childish. Though Kevin will probably throw me off a cliff if I happened to bring this up in front of him.
"I will get straight to the point Wes"
"I prefer it like that as well" I muttered smirking, purposefully throwing a sexual innuendo.
"Are you here to arrest me?" He asked, dabbing his mouth with the napkin.
"Sure I am not really into these things but we can do that if you want" I winked. He scowled.
"You are doing this on purpose aren't you?"
"Why am I not allowed to find a man attractive?"
"Let's be honest, if that was the case Clint would be your infatuation right now," He said chuckling. I nodded. I guess he does have a point.
"I think you are here to stray me for a while right? So who is coming to greet me first? Kevin? Michael? Or...Clint?"
"You know you are hurting my feelings. I am the one sitting here with you now. You should focus on me. You know I yearn for attention. A LOT"
"Wes?"
"There is someone behind you"
"Who?" I asked turning to look and found Captain Clint on the street running towards us through the glass walls of the restaurant. When I turned back my captive was also running away. Shit.
Captain refused to acknowledge my presence and ran after him. I was stopped in my way before I could do the same by the waitress who attended to me and Alissa a few minutes ago. She raised her eyebrow at me and handed me the bill.
"Your girlfriend went away without paying sir. She had two dishes and champagne. It will be $5000"
"My lord, is there something about this Champagne?"
"How will you pay sir? Cash or card?" She asked ignoring my shocked gasp.
"With my body. Here is my number, I will tell you where to meet" I said and bolted to join Clint before he loses the man and I get a demotion.
It's a hard life.
