I was in a deep slumber when I flew forward and whack my head on the seat's back in front of me. I woke up startled with a groan and glared at the driver in the front seat with disapproval.
"Ouch. You should warn when it's a bumpy ride!" I said gritting my teeth loudly.
He ignored me completely as if refusing to admit the fact he was driving roughly in a lady's presence. What a gentleman! I sat up a little straight, stretching my back.
I looked at the speed meter of the car. Holy cow! He is riding at a speed of 160 per km.
I regarded the Captain with confusion and shock as he drove the car. His gaze swept to look into the side mirrors again and again. That's when I noticed a car following us. My eyes widened and I turned to look at them from the back windshield of the car.
"Who are they?" I whispered scared to the Captain without taking my eyes off of the car.
He didn't reply and just increased the speed. The window of the car following us opened and an arm with an assault rifle came out.
Whoosh! The noise rang in my ears loudly as the back windshield of the car broke. Splattering the glasses everywhere. I screamed and dived downwards into the seats, shielding myself with my hands.
"Stay down fool!" The Captain said angrily.
I trembled and obeyed him as more of the gunshots fired, this time breaking the front windshield, leaving us exposed. From the noise of the car, it was clear that the other car was slowly catching up to us. Captain cursed at something loudly.
"No matter what, stay in the seat Jen" Captain Clint said urgently with his eyes locked with mine in the rearview mirror.
He did something crazy then. He turned the car down with a 180° turn. My body fell from the seat to the surface of the car with a thud and I hit something hard.
A wet thing flowed down the left side of my face. I craned my neck up to see the Captain pulling out his rifle. There was a loud impact as the front of both cars banged with each other. My head hit something hard again, causing me to go half dizzy due to the pain.
The momentum caused our car to move backward with the front of the Assassins car pressing into the front of ours. The Captain took out his hand and shot a few bullets. Few more bullets followed and both the cars hit a tree on the side lane with a loud bang! I covered my ears and cried out as the remaining windows broke too. A deadly silence followed and I heard the front door open. The door near my side was already unhinged by its side as a hand-pulled me out forcefully.
I whelped and looked at the Captain whose face was also covered in blood. Without any word, he ran with me at his side, away from the car. A loud ear crunching sound came from behind and a force threw us to the farther distance. Someone groaned beside me. I turned to look at the scene behind me with the last strength of my body, to see two cars burning up to ashes. And the darkness took me in.
