Jen's pov:
"Ralph!?" I cried out.
"Jen?" Michael called out from a distance.
I looked up from the faint blood-covered body of Ralph. The doctor rushed inside with him, immediately taking out his tools. I refused to move away from his side even when Michael tried to dissemble my hold. I stayed fixed with him.
"I have given him some painkillers. Looks like he was hit by a bullet recently and it was taken out rather hastily. He should rest for a week" The doctor explained and left.
Beside me, Michael sighed, "Jen get up, you are soaked in blood! You need to shower and get some sleep. Come on, don't argue please"
This time I agreed and carefully kept Ralph's head on the pillow. Moving his black hairs out of his face, I left him with Michael to bathe. Inside I broke completely. I cried and cried till my eyes hurt. Why is our peaceful life suddenly turned into a nightmare? And why had this jackass kissed me in his weakest situation?
As I slipped into a comfortable short and top, voices fighting each other reached my ear. One of them sounded arrogant and so very familiar. I quickly moved out and the room fell to silence. Two big arms hugged me instantly.
"Dad?" I asked in a teary voice.
"Are you hurt?" He asked in a troubled voice that shook a little.
"No" I answered sobbing. "But Ralph is. What is happening dad? Why are people out to get me and Ralph? I don't understand. When are you going to catch them? How long are we supposed to live in fear?"
"Don't worry Jen. The people who attacked my son and who tried to attack you will be dead by the end of this week!" Ralph senior promised from somewhere near us in a bitter tone.
"Captain!"
I followed my dad's gaze to the figure of Captain Clint who stood in a gloomy position. Even though his expressions and actions seemed gloomy, for some stupid reason they brought relaxation in me. His eyes met mine briefly before he looked at General Cassidy.
"Yes Sir!" He replied immediately going into a more attentive pose.
"What's the report?"
"I and Wes were coming to the department office to report it to ou before we received the news-"
"But now we aren't sure if the report is correct sir!" Wes said immediately, jumping inside the conversation. Captain shared a pissed look at his friend. Wes flicked one of his eyebrows, indicating him to stay quiet.
"I want the men who did this by the end of this week Captain" Rorsch Cassidy ordered and went out of the room.
Director looked at his sleeping son once and then went out as well. In the room remained Captain, Wes, Ralph, and me. And I knew when I met his grey eyes that I was in deep trouble.
