tom holland x styles!reader fluff; protective!older brother!harry styles
Being the younger Styles child always meant getting babied. But being their little girl meant there was no limit to how they'd protect you, especially Harry. Harry was always extra careful with you, especially after his fame took off with the band and then his new solo career. You understood, of course, but it limited a lot.
Your dating life, for starters. It had always been dry and weak, never truly starting a relationship for the commitment, for the long run.
This time around, however, was different. Tom was different. Because he was in the spotlight too; he knew what it was like to be in the public eye, to be torn apart by the media, picked at until all that was left was the vulnerable center of a human.
He was protective too. He was so caring, so sweet and soft. He was a gentle lover, that much was obvious. You hoped your family would see that side of him too, would see why you love him as much as you do.
It was uncharted territory — bringing a boy home, that was. Of course, Tom wasn't your first boyfriend, but was the first that was here for the long run. It had already been four months. You knew him better than the back of your hand; you knew he wasn't one to abandon.
That didn't, however, mean you weren't nervous. You were terrified, if you were being honest with yourself. Your family had never met any of your boyfriends like this before. Tom was a gentleman; you didn't worry about his impression. You worried about how harsh your brother might be, how strict and unmoved your parents might be. It was always harder because of the divorce. Nobody really talked about it. But Tom was mature, in that sense. He made you talk about it, he made sure you knew that he'd like to meet any and all available parents if it meant making everybody comfortable. He would hate for your parents to worry about who their daughter was seeing all the time.
"Love?" He kissed your cheek to bring you back in the real world and out of your thoughts. "It's going to be okay, okay?"
You hummed, nodding mindlessly. "Just nervous."
He kissed your knuckles, bringing your intertwined hands up to his thin lips and placing delicate kisses there. You brought your attention to the boy trying to calm your nerves, offering him an apologetic and thankful smile. He returns it assuringly. You turn onto the street of your mother's home. You see your brother's car parked in the driveway and smile. Tom picks up on it, gazing at you with a small grin.
Eventually, the two of you are on the front porch waiting for the door to open. Gemma opens the door with a smile, bringing you into a hug before calling for the rest of the family. She shakes Tom's hand; he introduces himself.
"Y/N!" Harry cheers childishly, running over to you and bringing you into his embrace, squeezing tightly. You laugh, hugging him back. Tom smiles at the interaction.
"You must be Tom," His tone changes as he offers a polite hand. Tom's eyes change as he realizes Harry isn't here to play. He feels slightly intimidated by his height, but he remembers why he's here and he smiles.
"Yeah, that's me."
Harry hums. You slap the back of his shoulder and whisper for him to behave. He gives innocent eyes, eyebrows shooting up.
"Mum!" Anna comes out after Harry hollers for her. She's got an apron around her waist, and she smiles when she notices the four of you gathered around the entrance.
"My baby! How're you?" She holds you at arm's length while you answer. She squeals when she moves on to Tom.
"And you're the young man my daughter is head over heels for, huh?"
"Mum!" You groan. Harry rolls his eyes.
"Really mum. Barf," he remarks. Gemma rolls her eyes, leading everyone into the kitchen where lunch is being made.
Twenty minutes later and Anne had set up everything on the back patio for an outside lunch. You're seated next to Tom at the round table. Harry to your left as Anne and Gemma take the remaining seats.
Conversation is smooth and flowing like a new stream. Tom gets along well with your mom, but Harry is staring daggers into your boyfriend. You don't mention anything; you know it's probably hardest for him. He was the only man in the house growing up, especially after losing your step-dad. Things have been rough all around. But Tom is sweet; he's gentle and so compassionate. You know he'd connect with Harry on a personal level if he opened up a bit.
Anne steps away to take out a few dishes, and Tom turns his direction to you. He pouts when you don't hold his hand, so you chuckle before giving in. He smiles in victory, in satisfaction, once again kissing your knuckles with a smile as he talks to you. You're laughing with a shine in your eyes. He's staring at the orbs he fell in love with. Neither of you notice Anne coming back.
Gemma turns to her as if to say "Are you seeing this?" And everyone is. They're watching the youngest Styles with the love of her life. Anne smiles in realization that you've finally grown up.
"He's the one," She whispers to Gemma. Harry picks up on it. His face turns pale as that realization hits him harder than a hangover. They're right. He realizes he's probably been a grouch towards Tom all day, but he blames that on his protective habits. He realizes you've finally found someone to accept into your crazy lifestyle of sorta-in-the-public-eye-but-also- a-normal-human-being.
"Yeah," He interrupts, surprising both his mother and his sister. "He is."
