Tom and you were all over the place He'd just returned to London from a recent shoot, but the two of you had so much work going on that there wasn't much time in between to hand out like you used to. Tom wasn't even staying in the flat, he was in a rental up North for another shoot, but he returned on weekends.

This weekend, Tom was finally returning home, and not just to the country. You were excited too. The two of you were going to a party together -- along with the rest of the boys -- and the social event would be great to catch up with everyone.

You were at the party early. Harrison had texted you that him and the boys were already there, all but Tom, who was coming just a few minutes late. Your best friend was there too, so you didn't feel the need to be as late as Tom.

Walking into the house, it smelt faintly of alcohol and sweat; it was still quite early, so the stench wasn't as bad as it would be later on in the night. Maneuvering, you grabbed a drink and made your way to the patio, where Harrison and your best friend were -- talking to Kassandra.

You had nothing against her, but she always seemed to reappear despite her and Tom breaking up over a year ago -- over 18 months, to be realistic.

"Hey, guys," you said, standing next to [your best friend].

"Hey, Y/N/N," she said.

"Sup," Harrison said, and you laughed. Kassandra gave you her forced smiled, and you tried not to give her an identical one.

After a few minutes of catching up, [your best friend] and Harrison were going to get drink refills, leaving you with alone with Kassandra.

"So how're things?" you asked awkwardly.

"Alright," she sipped out of her cup. "How's Tom?"

"Uh," you played with the hem of your shirt. "Busy."

She hummed, taking another drink. "He always seems to be busy with you, now," she said.

"What- what does that mean?" you questioned quietly.

"I mean, I always made time for him. He always made time for me. I am, after all, his first supporter, yanno. I funded his shit early on."

You paused, inhaling before replying. "I support him."

She hummed again, nodding. "Yeah, you probably think so."

"What does that mean?"

"Real girlfriends do more."

"I am a real girlfriend."

"As real as you can get."

"What the fu-"

"Hey, ladies," Tom said, coming up from behind you both. He was stood in the gap between you and Kassandra, and you were glad he got there in time before you started a scene.

"Hey, Tom," you said, sipping your sprite.

"Tommy," Kassandra smiled that signature smile.

"What were we talking about?" he asked, glancing back and forth between you two.
