An attack right outside your apartment building in New York city is what led you to meeting the Avengers. Captain America, as amazing as he was, was on the ground, in and out of consciousness. That is, until you arrived.
You weren't sure how you got your powers. They were a curse at first; you hated them with a passion. But when Peter told you he was Spiderman, that all changed. He didn't know about your powers until you joined the Avengers, but by that time, you had already accepted the fact that this change was permanent.
It was difficult to describe how you controlled them. Sometimes, when you were angry or frustrated, they were strong. Other times, they would get weak at the slightest outbreak of emotion. You were still discovering what more there was to them, only recently discovering that you could read people's minds, but that's a story for another time.
Your main power, in your opinion, was healing. Healing the wound on Captain America that time during battle, he had immediate questions.
"Finish this first," you told him.
Much like Spiderman, you had a bit of super strength. Your senses would be a little more sensitive, but you didn't have a 'Peter tingle' as you and May liked to call it. If you really focused, you even had telekinesis. When you had adrenaline coursing through your veins, though, it made it hard to focus, so you stuck to be the team's personal doctor.
This wasn't easy, though. Big wounds and diseases took a toll on you. You slept a lot, meditated a lot, ate a lot, and you were always working on puzzles. Mind exercises, you told everyone. Tony had warned you, to an extent, that saving people meant putting some form of the wound on you. In other words, you were basically transferring the disease, or whatever health problem it was, to you, because your immune system was, as Tony and Bruce told you, 100 times stronger than any normal human. It made healing others easy, because you barely felt pain. When you were sick, your immune system weakened, so you weren't allowed on missions. You didn't get sick often, luckily, but you hoped to god nothing would go wrong while you stayed behind.
When Captain America came back to you after everything ended, he took you to the new Avengers facility in upstate New York. You met Doctor Strange, Tony, Bruce, Nat, Clint, and everyone else. Peter, still pining after you at the time, was in his Spider suit when Cap introduced you to everyone. He freaked out, of course, so you had to explain to everyone what you knew about your powers, which wasn't a lot. Bruce and Tony took you to the lab that night to run some tests, and you ended up staying for the whole week. You didn't join the Avengers until six months later.
Now, you were sitting on the kitchen counter, drinking a smoothie and eating some banana bread. Eighteen months had passed since you first joined the superheroes, and you were living in the Stark Industry tower with the rest of them.
