Warnings: more angst (sorry), cheating, cursing

Summary: Tom thinks you cheated, so he cheats too. If only he realized sooner...

Affection. It wasn't something you showed often, only when it counted; mattered. With Tom, it was different. You were always affectionate to your boyfriends, which is how they knew you truly liked them. You were never affectionate in public, PDA just wasn't your thing, and Tom completely respected that. Not only were you never public about it, but you were only touchy with Tom; intimacy, you called it. He noticed this too, that you only did certain things to him. He loved it, it made him feel special.

Tom was out, working, when Harrison came by crying. You and Haz were best friends, but he rarely cried in front of you, that was mostly Tom's department.

He knocked three times, banged on the door really. You were reading on the couch, instrumental music lightly playing in the background. Upon hearing the knocks, you were startled before rushing to open the door.

There he stood, eyes bloodshot, cheeks puffy, and lips swollen from biting them, as he tried to fight back a sob. You stepped aside, making room for him to step inside from the cold, but instead he clung to you, gripped you tightly as he cried out.

Minutes passed, and he quieted down, enough for you to lead him to the couch. You went to get a glass of water and some tissues, placing them on the coffee table before sitting next to him.

"What happened?" you spoke softly.

"Mum's got breast cancer." You gasped, looking at him as tears filled your own eyes. He nodded wildly, trying to keep the tears from spilling. "I don't- fuck. They said it was stage four? Wont fuckin' save her," he rambled, crying again.

You pulled him closer, sitting in his lap, which fazed neither of you, for you always did it before you and Tom started dating. He cried into your neck while you played with his hair, soothingly moving your hand over the back of his neck and shoulders. He gripped you hard, eventually calming down again. You pulled back slightly, so you could look at him while you talked. Your hands went to his cheeks, holding his face to really look at him and the state he was in: broken and vulnerable.

"We're all here for you. I know you're lost, but we always find you. Your mum loves you so much, so so much. Gonna be here for her no matter what. No sickness could ever stop you from loving her."

Unbeknownst to both of you, Tom was watching the whole thing. You pulled Haz closer, leaning in, and that's when Tom left, anger bubbling up inside him. You were going to kiss him, his best friend. Why?

You pulled his head towards your lips, slightly moving him downward so you could kiss his forehead. You hugged him tightly for a minute, finally getting up from his lap and going to the kitchen to get a snack for him. You noticed Tom's work backpack on the floor near the door, but thought nothing of it as you went back to Harrison.

Two hours passed, and Haz had just woken up from his nap. "Tom back yet?"

You shook your head, glancing at the clock. "It's almost nine, he should be here already," you replied.

Haz sat up, rubbing the sleep away from his eyes before yawning and sliding out from under his blanket. His phone was sitting on the kitchen counter, and he made his way over. You followed him, refilling your cup in the kitchen and sitting on the counter while he took a seat on the stool.

"He still hasn't answered my call from earlier," he said.

Of course, he wouldn't just out and say that he went to you because he didn't know where Tom was, but he was hesitant about going to you because he didn't want to cross any boundaries. He knew Tom loved you, and you him, but Harrison was desperate, and Tom's phone was dead, sitting in the glove compartment of his car for about half the day.
