Upon hearing the news, you were ecstatic. Where you're from, people are sent down as early as the first day they're born, but not you. You had just turned 17, and you had yet to leave. Until today.

Whatever you were (you didn't really know), you had a job: find your soulmate. It seems simple, but a lot of mental work and effort had to go into the task, and this boy was so hard to locate. You hadn't pinned an exact person though, just a general location: Queens, New York.

***

After spending a week in Queens, you had narrowed down the area somewhat. Today would be your first day attending Midtown High. You weren't really nervous -- you were a genius.

Walking in, nobody glanced your way -- there was nothing for them to look at. Walking past a few students, you failed to notice a boy, who was watching you walk down the hallway.

Peter thought you were the prettiest person he'd ever laid eyes on. You were so small, innocent in his eyes. Your outfit only intensified how cute you were.

"Dude, hello??" Ned spoke, interrupting his best friend's trance. "What're you," he turned around to look at what Peter seemed to be staring at, but finding nothing, "looking at?"

"Hm?" he shook his head slightly. "Oh, nothing. Sorry, so the Lego Death Star?" He closed his locker, walking to class with Ned.

Sitting down in his usual seat, he noticed you were sitting in the very back, a seat nobody ever used, not even teachers.

There she is again.

"Peter, c'mon!" Ned yanked him to their seats.

During third period, you were sitting in an vacant seat in the middle of the class. Peter was sitting father back than you were, so he got to observe you without your knowing.

He saw a little mark on your wrist; a tattoo maybe. He noticed your fidgeting and how nobody seemed to be annoyed with how loud you were tapping your feet.

"Peter, care to join us?" the teacher spoke.

Guess I'll have watch you later- no. Observe you later.

When you didn't buy lunch from the cafeteria, Peter grew curious. Everyone bought lunches, especially on Taco Tuesday. He watched you, yet again, walk through the cafeteria unbothered by everyone. You weren't eating in here, he thought, so you would either be going to the library or the courtyard where the picnic benches were set up. Rarely anyone ate outside; Peter never gave it much thought, but now that he was, he did think it was rather weird.

"Loser, wake up," Mj brought him back to reality.

"Why do you keep staring into space?" Ned asked.

"Couldn't it be a girl?" Mj smirked.

"I mean, I thought it could. But when he's staring, I don't see anyone," he explained.
