"Mikami?"

"(Y/N)."

You stare up at your former classmate since elementary school. He had grown...a lot.

He was tall, intimidating. Almost the exact opposite of what he was during your school years together. In elementary school he was thin, lanky, and looked like he could barely lift a chair--yet this Teru Mikami...he was different. He looked like he could pick you up and sling you around with ease.

His long ebony hair framed his well-sculpted face perfectly, and those caramel eyes of his peeked through rectangular glasses. Mikami was...beautiful. A daydream of a man.

"I...it's good to see you again, Mikami."

"You too."

You smile, rubbing your arm nervously. "Um...how have you been?"

"I've been...alright. What about you?"

"I'm okay. I've been painting again. Remember when I won that art fair in middle school?"

"Of course I do. You deserved that award."

"Thanks. Painting has been a real pasttime for me since we graduated. Haven't been up to a lot, so I have some free time. What have you been up to?"

Mikami looks like he's thinking, then shrugs. "Not sure. Life hasn't been as exciting as we thought it would've been."

"Yeah, true...gosh, you haven't changed one bit, Mikami. I missed you. I really did, y'know."

Mikami smiles. "I missed you too. We should catch up with eachother a bit more. Actually, that maple tree we used to hang out at is still living, if you'd like to talk there."

"Oh, Mama Maple?"

"Is that really what we called that tree?"

You giggle, nodding. "Yep. Mama Maple."

"Ah. Well, how's about it?"

"Of course. There's a lot that's happened, Mikami."

Mama Maple was just a few blocks away from the park you had bumped into him at. It was an old, old tree, bright orange and crimson leaves that fell off every winter and scattered the hill it stood on. The sun hit it to where there was just the right amount of shade no matter the weather or the temperature.

"She's still as beautiful as she was all those years ago." Mikami says, touching the side of the tree and smiling. "It's like she never aged."

"I'm surprised she's still standing. You'd think the city would chop her down or something to make a building or something."

You take a seat on the clover-covered grass, resting your back against the wide trunk of the tree. "I miss being here. Being happy. Can't really go back to those days, can we?"

"Unfortunately, no," Mikami sighs, sitting down next to you. "But I'm glad we met again. Life seemed a little bleak without you, y'know."

You smile, looking into his dark eyes. It was amazing how beautiful he was, he just...enticed you.

"Yeah. Same here."

"Everything alright?"

"Mhm, I'm fine," You sigh, looking out at the town below. "Just thinking."

Mikami nods. "Let's just sit here for a bit. It's so beautiful out today."

"It really is..."

Mikami inches a little closer to you, resting his head against the bark of Mama Maple's trunk. He closes his eyes for a moment, breathing deeply in and out. The crisp winter wind blows his jet black hair, brushing against his cheeks and forehead.
