You dragged your feet as you walked through the front door. After a long, busy day you want nothing more than to crawl under the blankets and rest your eyes for the rest of the evening and into the night.

You shrugged off your jacket and just as you did, you heard hurried footsteps coming down the stairs and over to you. Rosie followed behind Lily, all smiles as the small girl hugged your legs and told you that she missed you today.

"We're playing. Join us?" She asked and tugged at your hand, only for you to shake your head and pull away. Her smile turned into a frown and her bright eyes turned sad as you brushed her off.

"I can't, Lily. I'm tired."

Rosie frowned as she witnessed the whole thing. It's unlike you to simply pull away from your daughter, no matter how tired you are. She's your whole world and no matter how stressed you get or how many things go wrong in your day, you still find yourself smiling and melting into her hugs and laughing as she clings to your legs.

Her hand fell to Lily's shoulder. She thought she'd be able to coax her back to her room and talk with you, maybe even convince you to spend some time together after you rest a little.

But Lily was insistent. She's spent the whole day with Rosé while you've been at work and she wanted your time and attention. After all, you're her mom and she loves you.

"Buy, mommy," she whined and tugged at your hand again but when she did, it seemed to be the thing that made you snap.

"Lily, I said no!" You yelled. "I'm tired and I'm stressed and my day has been terrible. You're getting on my nerves by asking again and again. The answer is no! Now leave me be."

You slammed the bedroom door behind her and Rosie's heart shattered at the sobs that came from the little girl. Her bottom lip trembled and she sobbed as Rosé lifted her into her arms and hugged her tight.

"Okay, honey. It's okay." She comforted but it did nothing to soothe her.

"She hates me," she cried and clung to Rosie, bunching her shirt up in her tiny hands as her tears soaked through her shirt.

"No, baby, no. She doesn't hate you. She loves you so much."

But the little girl was insistent on her feelings. She shook her head, tears falling down her cheeks. She felt as though you didn't love her anymore. You've never, in the five years that she's been in this world, snapped at her like you just did and it was devastating and broke her fragile little heart.

"Okay," Rosie mumbled to herself and sat Lily onto her bed. She grabbed her bunny and handed it to her and Lily cracked a teary-eyed smile as she hugged the bunny to her chest and let her tears fall onto the stuffed animal. "You stay here, okay? I'm gonna fix this and your mom is gonna be in here very soon to talk to you."

"Yell?"

"No. No more yelling. I promise."

She curled up against her pillow, hiccuping as she hugged her bunny. Rosé left a kiss on her head before going across the hall. She couldn't handle seeing Lily so heartbroken and especially not because of you and because of a bad moment you had because of a bad day.

She was gonna take matters into her own hands, no matter the cost.

She opened the door and saw you lying in bed. She didn't slam it in fear that it would startle Lily more but she did close it harder than she usually would, so it got your attention.

"What?"

"What?" Rosie repeated. "What do you mean what? You're laying here to sleep while your daughter is crying her eyes out across the hall because you broke her heart?"
