Tired of laying in bed without being able to fall asleep, Lily pushed her blanket away and got out of bed. Her tiny feet padded across the floor to your room. She pushed the door open, only to find that the room was empty.

"Mommy?" She called out and hugged her bunny to her chest as she went down the stairs slowly, in search of you. She called out for you again as she reached the bottom step and saw you on the couch with Rosie.

"Mommy!" She yelled out and her feet carried her even faster than before as she finally made her way to you.

However, she froze when she saw you sleeping with your head on Rosie's chest, who was also sound asleep. She was holding you tightly, legs intertwined and the blanket over your laps.

Before Rosé came into your lives, on nights that she couldn't seem to fall asleep, you'd let her crawl into your bed and cuddle up with you.

Your hugs were magical to your little girl, with special healing powers that always makes her feel better when she's sick or sad, or just can't sleep.

It's the first night she's really struggled on falling asleep since Rosie came around several months ago. She's only five and tends to tire out easily.

However, there are the rare nights when she's too happy or hyper to fall asleep, or nights like tonight when she swore that there were monsters under her bed.

She'd fallen asleep on your lap during your toy story marathon and you carried her off to bed without her even waking up. She didn't see you check for them and there was a strange sound coming from outside her window. She needed you to check and, in the meantime, she needed cuddles from you.

But you were busy cuddling with someone else.

She huffed and threw her bunny onto the floor in anger. She stomped her foot, causing Rosie to open her eyes. She stirred and sat up, which made you wake as your head fell from her shoulder.

"What is it?" You mumbled and rubbed the sleep from your eyes. Opening them, you saw Lily standing there with her arms folded over her chest, pouting her lips sadly.

"Lily? Sweetie, what is it?" You asked and scooted to the edge of the couch. "Are you not feeling well? Did you have a bad dream?"

She didn't say anything, so Rosie frowned and went to get up to over to her. Only for the small girl to back away and yell out,

"No!"

"Honey, your bunny is on the floor." You pointed out and reached for it, only for her to refuse to take it.

"Don't want it!" She said, making your eyebrows furrow in confusion as you picked up the stuffed toy which is usually her pride and joy. She carries it everywhere with her... everywhere. For her to say she doesn't want it indicated that there was something really wrong.

"Lily? Honey, what's going on?" Rosie asked, stepping closer to the small child.

"No!"

"Lily, stop being rude." You mumbled and walked toward her to try to comfort her and see if you could figure out what was going on with her.

But she just ran to her room, leaving you both confused and worried.

You went up the stairs faster than ever before and Rosie followed cautiously behind you. You opened the door to Lily's room but seeing that Lily was upset with her, Rosé decided to stay out and let you have some time alone.

"Lily," you opened the door, finding her sat in bed with her arms folded over her chest. "Honey, what's wrong?"

She didn't say a word as you sat on her bed. Instead, she crawled onto your lap and hugged you tight.
