You let out a groan as you opened your eyes in the dark bedroom.
Reaching over to turn the lamp on, you sat up in bed and clutched your stomach with a whine.
You looked over at the clock and saw that it was a little after one am and since you felt so tired, you hoped that you could just lay back down and go back to sleep and you'd wake up in a few hours feeling much better.
But you felt extremely uncomfortable as you sat there alone in bed.
Your stomach was so sore, aching almost unbearably, and you felt nauseous as though you might be sick.
You ran your hand through your hair and realized that beads of sweat were gathered across your forehead before you started to shiver and it crossed your mind that you might be running a fever.
You wanted more than anything to just curl up under the covers and try to fall back asleep, but as soon as you tried your stomach turned and your mouth began to water and you knew that you were going to be sick.
You kicked the covers off before jumping out of bed and hurrying into the bathroom, where you knelt on the floor and began throwing up.
You held back your hair as you vomited, trying your hardest to stay quiet since Lily was sleeping just across the hall from your room.
But you were unaware that she was awoken by the sound of you throwing up and just a second later, she appeared in the doorway of the bathroom.
"Mommy?" She mumbled as she rubbed her tired eyes.
You looked over at her and as you tried to catch your breath, you spoke to her in hopes that you'd be able to calm her down.
"Hey, honey. Mommy's okay, go back to bed."
But just as you finished saying that, you began to vomit once more and Lily stood there in fear.
She hasn't seen you sick like this before, so it was all new and very alarming to her.
And being a kid, she had no idea what to do to make you feel better.
Only one thing came to mind as she watched you get sick and that was Rosie.
Rosie originally planned on staying over here tonight but got stuck in practice later than planned, so she promised she'd be over tomorrow instead.
But Lily worried that you wouldn't make it until tomorrow without Rosé.
So she ran back into your bedroom and grabbed your phone from the nightstand.
She went to your contacts and found Rosie's name and tapped on it before putting the phone against her ear.
You were still vomiting in the bathroom, too sick to realize what Lily was doing.
Lily watched you with tears in her eyes as she listened to the phone ring for a second before Rosie picked up.
"Hey, darling. What's up?" Rosie tiredly asked thinking it was you on the phone.
But to her surprise, she heard Lily's small and shaky voice in response.
"Rosie? Mommy's sick."
"Sick? What do you mean sick, honey?" Rosie asked as she sat up on her bed.
"She's throwing up. She's really sick." Lily sniffled. "I'm scared. Please come over."
She was so young and so worried about you that she couldn't help but feel fearful.
And Rosie's heart broke.
Not just because you were sick, but because she could hear just how worried Lily was about you.
"Okay, sweetie. It's going to be alright. I'm coming over. I'll be there soon." Rosie promised and spoke a few more words before hanging up as she got into the car and raced to your house.
