bad dreams

You curled up closer to Rosie as she ran her hand along your back.

It was a rare night with some peace and quiet for the both of you.

Lily ended up feeling quite sleepy this evening, so you put her to bed a little earlier than usual.

This gave you and Rosé a little extra time to spend together.

You both headed up to bed early yourselves, but only to curl up together and turn on a good movie... and share a few sweet kisses together too.

You were so comfortable and warm in her arms that you closed your eyes. You weren't exactly tired, just so content that you struggled to keep your eyes open.

"Going to sleep, baby?"

"Not yet." You said as you opened your eyes. "I'm still awake. I promise."

She smiled down at you as she brushed the tips of her fingers along your skin.

She leaned in for what was just supposed to be another sweet kiss, but turned into a steamy and passionate kiss; one so deep that she rolled you onto your back and hovered over you with her hands on your cheeks to keep moving her lips passionately against yours.

However, you both pulled away when you heard something that made your heart pound and your skin crawl.

The loud and scary sound of Lily screaming at the top of her lungs.

You both jumped out of bed and ran into her room across the hall.

You turned the light on and saw that she was in her bed with the stuffed animal Rosie got her tucked against her chest. Her chin rested on it as well as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Lily? Honey, what happened?"

"There was a monster."

Rosie frowned but did her usual looking around, hoping it'd help ease the small girl's mind.

"He was in my dream. It was scary." She whimpered and moved into your arms as you sat beside her.

"Oh, baby. It's okay. Everything's fine now. It was just a dream."

You looked over at Rosie and watched her eyes turn sad. She sat on the other side of Lily, who sniffled and pulled away from you to get a hug from her as well.

"Oh, sweetie. It was only a dream. A really bad dream."

She sniffled against Rosie's neck, her tears falling onto her skin.

"My room is safe?" Lily sniffled as she looked between the two of you.

"Oh, it's as safe as can be. I checked everywhere and there are no monsters in sight. I think you scared them all away with your scream." Rosie teased and playfully tickled Lily's side.

She giggled a little and let you wipe the tears from her cheeks.

"Are you sleepy? You look sleepy." You said as you brushed your fingers through her hair.

"Think you can go back to sleep?" Rosie asked, only for Lily to quickly shake her head.

"How about if I read you a story?"

She shook her head.

"Not even with goodnight moon?" Rosie gasped and Lily giggled again.

"How about if you sleep with us tonight?"

She quickly nodded her head and got out of bed.

Rosie brought along her favorite blanket and the stuffed animal and followed you and Lily into the bedroom.

You and Rosie laid down with Lily curled up between you.

"No more bad dreams tonight. We've got you." Rosie assured and kissed Lily's forehead before she started to quietly sing her favorite song.

Her eyes closed and so did yours, although Rosie didn't know since she was too focused on making sure Lily got back to sleep.

Once she knew she was sound asleep, she looked to you and shook her head with a big smile on her face to find you fast asleep, too.

"Cute." She giggled and reached for her phone to take a few photos of you and Lily curled up close to her.

She set one as her lock screen, knowing she'd be showing it off to the girls tomorrow to lovingly brag about her cute little family tomorrow.

She laid her head back and closed her eyes, quickly drifting off to sleep feeling as warm as possible with a small smile on her face.
