"Oh, look. One am and you're finally home." You grumbled as you flipped through the channels of the tv.
"Don't start, y/n. I'm so not in the mood."
"Rosie, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to start something." You said and followed her into the kitchen. "I'm just upset. I tucked Lily into bed a few hours ago and, yet again, she asked me when you'd be home to read her a story. I had to tell her that I didn't know."
"She's fine." Rosé said as she began to sip on some water. "You made dinner, right? Where is it?"
"Yeah, I made dinner but only enough for Lily and me."
She slammed the door of the fridge and stared at you in disbelief.
"Why the hell not?" She asked. "Y/N, you know I'm hungry when I get home."
"Yeah but the last few days, when you do get home later, you either have food that you got on the way home, you ate before you got home, or you find something here that you cook yourself."
"Whatever. I'll just go to bed and get some sleep."
"Fine. Maybe you'll wake up in a better mood."
"What'd you just say?" She asked as she folded her arms over her chest.
"You heard me. Rosie, you're not being very nice tonight. I know I got on you a little when you walked in and I'm sorry for that."
"I just had a hard day, y/n."
"Don't take it out on me, though!"
"But you're getting on my nerves!" She loudly said in frustration.
"I'm getting on your nerves?" You repeated in shock. "Did you seriously just say that to me while I'm trying to tell you how I feel?"
"I don't care." She groaned. "Not tonight, anyway. I'm exhausted."
"Oh, you're exhausted." You scoffed. "Yeah, figures. Because you're always working, always busy. You're never home with us anymore!"
As you argued, Lily awoke upstairs in her room.
At first, she couldn't hear anything being said.
She just knew she heard Rosé and amid her excitement, she jumped out of bed and ran out of her room.
She made it downstairs and was about to run into the kitchen when she froze.
You were arguing with each other.
Voices loud, words of anger and frustration being exchanged.
That was enough to take her back.
While she's still a child, only seven, she has a lot of memories of her early years.
She remembers hearing you and her dad arguing all the time.
She doesn't know much about the situation since she's too young but she remembers hiding under her covers, hoping it'd stop and that you'd be okay.
But one night, the screaming stopped early, because her father walked out the door and he never returned.
Rosie came into your lives not long after and Lily is so happy that she's around and that you're happy and there's no arguing anymore.
Until now.
And knowing that her father left after arguing, she couldn't help but worry that Rosé would do the same.
She began to cry and it quickly caught yours and Rosie's attention.
"Lily? Baby?" You looked over to the doorway, finding your little girl in tears.
