Three week time jump

It was now my third week at the Survey Corps. I would report weekly to my father through letters, and I would get letters back of him telling me how well he thought I was doing. He seemed proud of me and that made my heart want to burst out of my chest.

Because I spoke to so many people due to my inspections, I was starting to have many acquaintances here and there. With most people I still kept a professional attitude, but with Hange, it seemed like we were becoming close friends.

"So what about the boys back in the Capitol? Has anybody caught your attention? Are you married?" Hange giggled sitting on my bed.

We now often visited each other at late hours of the night, talking about trivial things and joking around. She seemed to have many questions about my life.

"No! I'm not married!" I bursted out a laugh. "I have gotten a few marriage proposals though, I just haven't had the time to consider them"

"What? Too busy practicing your math skills?" Hange mocked me. I had told her a previous night about how I had to redo a whole report because I didn't add some number correctly, and we both laughed at how stressful the silly situation was.

"No...I just...I'm too busy with my job" I explained. "Someday I'll have to take my father's matters into my own hands, and I need to be ready to hold such responsibility"

"Now you're sounding like Erwin and Levi" She playfully shook her head.

"Oh please don't ever compare me to Captain Levi" I shook my head.

"Calm down, quite frankly you have more things in common with a titan than with Levi" She said while letting out a small sigh. "But Erwin though..."

I shoved her off the bed, she bursted out laughing.

"What?!" I laughed with her, "I can't imagine myself dating Erwin...no...absolutely never"

"Never say never Y/N, I've seen the way he smiles at you, he's clearly head over heels" Hange smirked while crawling back into my beds

"No...I'm sure he's just being polite" I blinked aggressively trying to decipher his attitude.

"Even if he's just being polite, for some odd reason I feel like you'd be his type..."

Hange and I kept mocking each other all night until we started dozing off.

"I'm so tired, I'm going back to my room, I have to wake up early for a meeting"

I gave her a gentle nod, "Goodnight Hange, I'll see you tomorrow for the weapon report"

"Actually, tomorrow Erwin ordered me to prepare for an expedition that's coming up soon, but I'm sure Levi is available tomorrow" She gave me an awkward smile, anticipating a mixed reaction.

"Wha-what but..." I was now panicking.

"You don't need to be intimidated by him, just visit his office in the morning and ask him to help you with your report" Hange turned around to exit my room, still facing me, she released a small chuckle, "You're not one of his cadets, he won't beat you up..."

With that chilling sentence she waved at me and left while whispering goodnight.

Oh god. He beats up his cadets?!

Did I really have to ask him for help? Ever since I had gotten there, all he did was ignore me. Whenever I would sit at his table to eat, he would be silent. He never even bothered to look at me in the eyes.

The only significant interaction we had once was when I asked him if he had a pen one day when I was out in the stables, he glared at me for an uncomfortable amount of time and then said no.

It was...so oddly embarrassing.

I overthought the situation for the rest of the day. Why did I ask him for a pen while at the stables? Of coarse he isn't going to just have a pen in his pocket, he was literally staring at me like I was some sort of idiot.

Every interaction we had infuriated me, his attitude was extremely unpleasant.

And...now I had to ask him for help? What if he just denies, what do I do then? That would be humiliating. I suppose I could wait for Hange to become available after her busy schedule.

I wasn't sure what to do.

Why the fuck do I care so much?

I fell asleep thinking about every possible thing that could go wrong tomorrow.
