Throughout the day I followed the people on kitchen duty attentively. I met up with a few people to discuss all the numbers. How much food there was, how much food did the soldiers eat everyday. I had to take into account everything, including kitchen supplies and their conditions.

The whole day I spent it crunching numbers, that was the most vital part of my job. Embarrassingly enough though, I was never gifted in mathematics.

I was going around with my clipboard scratching my head at my own idiotic mistakes. I couldn't have a single number wrong, a single misplaced zero could ruin these people's lives.

I came out of the kitchen, and looked around the empty dining hall. It reminded me of last night's dinner.

'I can.'

The grumpy Captain's words echoed in my head over and over again.

Who the hell does he think he is?

I didn't appreciate his lack of manners, he was probably just a sad bag of trauma, his lack of enthusiasm really rubbed me in the worst way.

I will not be disrespected by such an insignificant man. He was part of the scouts, he would probably die any minute now in one of their useless missions.

I squinted my eyes a little, I couldn't believe I was sounding like my father now, I didn't know how to feel about it.

I decided to take a break from the numbers and walked outside, I walked down the hall, my dress flowing behind me. I quickly got a glance of some soldiers in the field, I decided to approach them.

"Good morning!" I announced myself as they all turned to see me.

The three men looked at me almost surprised,
"G-good morning" one of them stuttered his words.

I smiled at them sweetly, "Do you guys know where I could find Squad Leader Hange?"

They all wide eyed looked at me and all tried to answer me at the same time.

I laughed at their eagerness.

"Hange is always training at the East training grounds at these hours" One of the man cleared up my confusion.

"Where is that?" I asked him scrunching my nose.

The three man gasped at my involuntary reaction.

"Ahhh! She's so cute!" One of them wiggled his arms around.

I widened my eyes shocked at his confession, I laughed loudly. One of them pushed him away.

"I'm sorry, Otto can be quiet the dumbass sometimes" he mumbled clearly embarrassed by his friend's actions. "We can take you to Hange if you want"

"I would appreciate that" I said while still giggling at their nervous behavior. "I'm Y/N by the way" I gave them a sincere smile.

"I'm Jorgie, this is Weiss..." he said to the third member of their trio. "And you already met this idiot, Otto" He finalized while pointing at his comrade.

"A pleasure to meet you" I declared. With that they walked me over to the training grounds. We shared a few words on the way, they asked what I was doing at the Survey Corps and I explained to them that I was here to report on some economic matters.

They seemed fascinated by my presence, I enjoyed their short company.

Finally we arrived in the training grounds. I caught a glimpse at Hange, she noticed me and waved her arms up and down, her reaction was adorable.

She's definitely my favorite person here by a long shot.

"Y/N! I didn't expect you to come pay me a visit" her glasses glimmered as she spoke to me.

I turned to the soldiers who had helped me out, "Thank you guys, I'll be seeing you around!" I put my hands together in appreciation.

Their flustered faces smiled back at me and they all said their goodbyes.

"It seems like they were into you" Hange jokingly elbowed me in a suggestive manner.

I looked at the men who were now walking away from us, "Oh please, they're all just sexually frustrated soldiers" I laughed rolling my eyes.

Hange was shocked by my sudden lack of modesty. She threw her head back and laughed at my comment.

"That was uncharacteristic of you" She raised an eyebrow still lightly chuckling.

I widened my eyes at my own informal conduct.

This whole time I was putting a professional mask around the scouts, I was here to do my job and I didn't think that being unprofessional was acceptable. But for some reason Hange's amiable nature comforted me, I wanted to ricochet her jokes back at her.

Back inside of Wall Sheena, I was always the troublemaker in my group of friends, a side of me that I would never let any stranger get to see, it was a side of me reserved solely for my closest relationships.

Hange was able to tear my walls down with ease, perhaps it was her never ending kindness, or perhaps I was just in desperate need of some sort of relationship in this unfamiliar environment.
