"Could you give me an estimate of how many blades the scouts use on a daily basis?" I asked while writing something down."Nobody would be able to tell you, each mission is different" Levi mumbled while doing his own paperwork.
Day 2 with Levi was going much more smooth, he was being helpful without the snarky comments he usually would conjure up.
"Not even an estimate?" I asked.
"No" he responded still not a bit interested in making eye contact with me.
"Well alright I'll leave that blank for now, how many of the..." I paused hesitantly.
He looked up.
"..."
"..."
"Are we finally done here?" His uninterested eyes slowly drifted towards me for a second, quickly going back to his own papers.
"N-no, I need to know how many of those...things the scouts pos...the hooks..." Every word that came out of me was hesitant, he had already previously made fun of my lack of knowledge of their gear.
"The Omni-directional Mobility Gear" he clarified with a cold tone in his voice.
I was surprised he didn't make fun of me this time. Perhaps today I had caught him in a good mood.
"Yes, those, how many does the scouts have in their possession at the moment?"
He gave me a number and I wrote it down.
We continued looking at our own papers, focused on our own work for a bit. There was sometimes long periods of silence in between our back and forth, which didn't seem odd considering we were both so focused on what we were doing.
I needed to do some quick math that I had been avoiding. I looked up at Levi hoping he would be not paying attention to me, and at the sight of him being in the middle of writing something down I placed my papers on my lap.
Under his desk I began to use my fingers to not loose count of the large numbers I had to add together.
Levi seemed to have noticed that I put my papers down. While still facing down at his desk his eyes shifted to what I was doing.
"What are you doing under the table?" His voice made me jump slightly from my chair.
I looked up and froze, too embarrassed to tell him that I was using my fingers to do math.
"Nothing naughty I hope..." He nonchalantly murmured.
"O-obviously not, I just got distracted thats all" I blurted out. Blushing slightly right afterwards realizing how foolish this made me sound.
"I know you're trying to do the math silently so I don't notice how slow you are" He grabbed the tea that was placed on his desk, still holding it out in front of me waiting for my reaction.
"...what...how did you-"
"You were mouthing the numbers..." He interrupted me.
I sighed in frustration, "Was I?" I fell back into my chair.
He finally took a sip of his tea and then looked to the side, "You really didn't know? Every time you're adding things together you mouth..."
It seemed like he gave up mid sentence and shook his head slightly, quickly going back to his work.
I sat back up and ripped up an unused paper, I started writing down the numbers in order to give the simple equations another try.
