Over the next two weeks, Tana tried to take it as easy as she could. She exchanged her number with Thomas and promised to let him know if there was ever a moment she was feeling down and needed to talk. It was strange, like even though he caused her a lot of upset and pain in the past, she believed him, when he said he was sorry and wanted to work things out. He was trying and she was grateful.
She was proud of him too, to hear that even though he had issues with Monica, he did not give up on his dream. He was doing stunt work for tv and movies and he even sometimes had a few acting spots. It made sense as to why Tana noticed the hard chest of his when he had hugged her, but she did not tell him that too much, just made her comment to him.
Avoiding her mother, she had texts from her siblings, none of them really understanding how hard it was all for her and so she found she was not getting along with them at the moment either. To add more sting to the bite, work was not going any easier on her. Now that it was time she was on her own and Maggie was gone, Tana was finding herself overloaded some days. There were even times that she took files home and worked on them there. She had to memorise Clark's calendar as well, to make sure she remembered all of the common engagements that he had and so she was ready any time that he needed to change things.
Tana knew at work, Jenny was not happy with the changes and she was becoming a little more tricky to handle, but Tana did her best. What she did not like was the way the boss still gave her trouble, how he would still make remarks at her, calling her silly, dumb or even an idiot at times. It was like he was expecting so much more from her and yet she was still trying to find her feet. So much so that she clashed with him a few times and she was not sure how much longer she was going to last as his personal assistant.
June hit, the cold hit, and Tana was certainly feeling it. She felt like she had a bit of a sore throat by Friday the fourteenth, which did not sit well with her at all, for Tana had plans to meet up with her friends for dinner and she did not want to be feeling sick and not enjoy herself.
"Would a mask suit you better?" a cutting voice asked.
Tana looked up from the work desk, spotting Clark standing in the doorway of his office, leaning there, arms crossed. He had just caught her in a little cough, but even if he was joking, his tone was anything but.
"I will be fine." Tana stated looking back down at the file she was transcribing.
"Don't get me sick. I have court on Monday and you are expected to be there too." He warned. "I did not give you this opportunity for you to waste this chance."
"I wont waste it." Tana replied.
"Good, I hate time wasters." He told her. "It is the end of day, get out of here and be sharp on Monday, nothing less."
"Nothing less." Tana replied with a nod.She was annoyed, with his tone again, hating how it was bossy, dominating and demanding. Hated that he spoke to her like she had not feelings of her own and what she felt did not matter. Not looking at the boss, Tana shut her systems down, kind of glad she did not have to hang back any longer. She made sure her desk was neat and tidy and then grabbing her things she walked away, knowing that he was still watching her, but not daring to watch back.
By the time Tana got back to her car, she knew she did not have a lot of time to go home and change before she needed to meet the girls. So, instead, she just drove to the dinner meeting place, a place called Saints Kitchen. It was a new place and they found it was not too busy most nights and the food was good, so the girls liked going there. Tana arrived and was walking to the doors at the same time Claire was arriving. They smiled, greeted and hugged, walking in and looking around. They saw a table where Chelsea and Sophia were waiting and each of them waved. Arriving at the tables, it was all friendly smiles, chatter and greetings again. The same for each time someone else arrived. In the end, they were a big group, so it was always stand and sit, stand and sit. Tana felt a little silly, but she was sure they all looked like a funny bunch doing it.
