Her photo was all over the place. In the paper, on the internet, in the news. By now, the whole state, or at least those that paid attention, knew that there was a man hunt out for the man named Hugo Brown and her photo had been an addition, in hopes that maybe somebody may have noticed them. Due to Tana playing a part in a movie and was meant to be filming one at the current moment, there was a lot people were discussing about her, and yet none of it was helping.
The police were coming to dead ends all the time, when they thought they were getting close, they always ended up coming out short handed. It was not ideal, it was frustrating and Clark knew sooner or later they would be giving up. Half the force were already assuming that Tana was dead and they needed to start looking for a body, but Clark would not allow them to give up. He knew she would still be alive, Hugo was not about to have her within his reach and then kill her. They were out there some where and Clark needed to find where and the sooner the better.
It was already December now, the fourteenth and four weeks since Tana was declared missing and they were no closer to finding her. He had been working with some trusted lawyers to start building a case and gathering the evidence. Due to his personal relationship to Tana and the history with Hugo, he was not allowed to be the leading lawyer when the case was to take place, but he made sure he knew every single detail there was to know.
Presently, Clark was sitting in his office in silence, lately he had not been able to focus on a lot of things and work was surely not one of them. With each day that passed, he felt more and more guilty, for not protecting Tana like he had promised her he would. He had let her down and he could never forgive himself for that.
In the quiet of the room, the knocking on the door was obvious and loud. Clark let out a sigh and told who ever it was to enter. Allyson came on, carrying an envelope in her hand. It seemed like the mail had only just been delivered and she was bringing him something. Allyson had taken on the role Tana was meant to be doing, and while she was doing it well, he knew it was not the same. Allyson did not say much, just placed the envelope down and turned, walking out of the room.
Clark glanced at the envelope. There was no return address, just his company name on the front. What ever was inside was not flat either, there was a bulge in the envelope. Frowning, Clark picked it up and carefully opened, pulling out what was inside. That made his frown deepen, as he found a pen inside. It was silver and it made no sense. Clark sat for a few minutes studying the pen before he noticed it was slightly different and he realised it was not just a pen but a recording device.
Not quite understanding what was going on, Clark looked into the envelope. There was a single slip of paper and the hand writing on it looked half rushed. There was simple what looked like an address on the paper. None of this was making sense to him, but it was clear somebody wanted him to have it. The only thing he could do was look for the button on the recording device to hear what was left on there for him. This did not take Clark long, of course he would find it soon enough, and sitting in silence, he listened, finding that the recording started in what seemed like the middle of a conversation.
"I need to ask some questions to do a full diagnosis." A male voice spoke. "Your wife's name please."
"Sara Lenton." Another voice spoke, sounding somewhat familiar.
"Age?" the first asked.
"Twenty Three." The second said.
"How long has she been like this?" first questioned.
"Two days." Second answered.
"I need you to grab me some things." First commanded firmly.
"I am not leaving this room." Second warned.
"If you want her to get worse, stay. Otherwise, go get me some water, sugar and some sort of alcohol I can use as disinfectant." First requested.
"What ever." Second said annoyed, then footsteps and then a door closing.
"Sweet heart... stay like that, as if you are not awake yet. I will ask, you give me simple answers. I am Dr Alberton. Please, is he your husband?" First asked.
"No." a weak voice now spoke.
