Tana found she did not want to do too much over the few days left of the week. She wanted to rest and get her mind around things. Obviously, her father knew about her recent event in hospital. Called her up on the Thursday to check on her. They both agreed, she would start having to call the Hospital her second home soon, with the way she kept finding herself in there. For Tana she did not understand why her life was going crazy like it was. Growing up, aside from waking up from a coma when she was twelve, Tana had been a very healthy person, very fit and able to do lots of things. Now, she felt her body was paying her back, telling her to stop and rest. If only she could. Keeping busy, doing things was what Tana needed, if she stopped, she could not handle the things that took place in her mind.
She had not told any of her friends what had happened, once again. She kept it silent, as she did not want to bother them with her troubles, they had enough things going on as it was. She replied to messages and calls, talking of the good points from the work team building event, but did not state what really happened. There was a small news coverage on it, but not enough for too many people to notice and question. Her mother on the other hand, who must have fund out either from her father or her siblings called and even though she said it was to check on Tana, only seemed to ask why Tana did not call her. Tana put her foot down, telling her mother she did not bother because her mother always refused to help and come into the city to the hospital. Her mother did not like the truth and of course, they had a fight over the phone on it.
Knowing full well, that there was never going to be a time in which her mother was going to change. Every time she told herself to accept it and move on, and yet every time something new happened it always bought her down. No matter what she said, how hard she tried, everything she needed to do to make it clear, it was never going to rest upon her mother how unmotherly she really was. Tana was done with it, done trying for good and to make her feel better, she told herself, that more then anything, while she loved her mother, her mother was more of an acquaintance than anything else now.
On Friday morning, she finished her assignment the final draft, sending a copy to Clark who had been helping her. She was not sure if it was a good idea, but he had helped and she thought it would be nice if he got a look, to see if he had any more advice. After sending it, Tana sat back in her bed, laptop in her lap and started working on her story, something she had not done for a little while due to trying to study so much recently. At least an hour went by before she was interrupted, by an email notice. Opening her web tab, she looked, to see it was a reply from Clark. She was surprised, he had read it already?
Why are you not resting?
Tana shook her head, wondering if he was really serious, if that was really his reply. Had he even read the assignment or was he just noticing it and just generally asking her his question. Wasn't the idea of her sitting in her bed resting enough, why couldn't she work on her studies, she had nothing else to do unless it was her story. Though, she soon received another email from him.
It is good though. Nice work. Now REST.
She actually let out a small laugh at this one. She could see he was trying, she could see that he was still very standoffish and head strong, and yet it was clear he had caught himself and followed through with a softer comment. Tana was glad though, that he thought it was good and no wasting time, she sent the assignment off to the program contact of hers, submitting it into the system for marking. Typing out a quick reply to Clark, she hoped he would see it as light banter.
I am not the young girl you remember. I am an adult and if you said to rest, this is resting enough while being productive too.
She left it at that and did not say much more, sending the email and then going back to her story, working on it through to the afternoon, only stopping again when she needed to pull herself out of her bed to go to the bathroom, or when she had a call from Jason. She missed the first call, and called him back. He seemed cheerful when he answered and she assumed it just meant that he did not want to speak with her about anything medical. He asked how she was doing, which she told him she was resting and working on her laptop. He asked if she had any plans and if she was actually in the mood to leave the house.
