It was very rare for anyone to get much out of him, Clark was a very guarded person, very privet and did not talk much about personal things with people. Yet, when that bang went off and Luke called to the other side of the door, he because worried and fearful hearing that two of his staff were stuck on the other side. Luke was in control; he knew what he was doing. His father was a firefighter and he had some skills himself. They found the door was jammed, but when they called through, Tana had told them it was not blocked. Instead, they used an emergency axe and smashed through the wall. Clark was not keen to go in, and with Luke being in control, he went in to get to the girls.
It was though, as Luke started coming out that he called for help, he had Allyson but Tana was hurt and needed help. Clark did not like it, he was worried, but he had to put on a brave front and go in. The room was a mess, full of smoke and he could not even see her at first. Luke was out and clear, getting Allyson to safety. When he found Tana, Clark knew she was struggling, he knew she was worried. Though, once again, his mind found himself being impressed with her. While she was struggling, she was still tyring her best, like every other day. He noticed the spoons next to her, knew she had the plan to strap her ankle, but there was no time for that.
She seemed surprised when he reached her, shocked, like she had not expected him to come and help. He knew it was because the way people saw him, a hard-cold man who did not care, yet they were all wrong and he thought Tana knew that. Maybe it was something else, maybe she was surprised because she had not heard him coming. Either way, the fire was increasing, and they needed to get out.
What shocked him the most was when there was a bang, distracting them, Tana took actions into her own hands. She yelled at him, pushed him and sent him away from her, right at the same time the roof came crashing down where they had been standing. Clark was stunned, as the force of the push and the blow of the fallen debris knocked him over. He felt winded and felt like a lung full of smoke and dust went through him. He was coughing, pulling himself up, looking around. He could not see her; she was not there with him. He was angry and confused, for what she said and the way she acted.
Clark called to her, hoping she would answer. Relieved when she did, trying to find a way to get to her. She did not sound like she was doing well, it sounded like she was chocking, and he needed help and fast to get through the mess that was before him blocking her. It was the first time, while talking to her, that he admitted a weakness, telling her, opening up to her, that he was scared, that he had a fear of fires.
"I... I... remember... you." She said weakly back to him.
"What do you mean?" Clark asked, shifting some rubble and watching as particles fell towards him. "Tana... what do you mean?"He grabbed at something, hissing and retracting his hand. It was something metal and hot, giving him a burn. He was not impressed but did not want to just give up like that.
"Tana, what do you mean?" Clark asked again, to no reply. "Tana! Can you hear me?"
The reply was silent, she was not answering him. Clark swore loudly, knowing that she likely had passed out, considering he felt it sounded like she was choking before. He needed to get to her quick, stressing out, knowing he had been in this situation in the past, and not wanting to lose another person important to him. Yes, Tana was important, while he would not admit it, he knew she had been a light to his life, with her firm opinions, her ways of dealing with things, her smarts and everything she faced. She was a fool at times, doing things without thinking, but even that, he liked. She was a valid part of the team, and he could not lose her.
"Clark, what is going on?" Luke's voice asked.
"The roof came down. Tana is on the other side." Clark replied.
"Ok, let me help... we need to shift something big, as it will loosen everything else up." Luke explained. "Do you know if she is under anything?"
"No. She was answering me, but it had now stopped." Clark explained. "How is Allyson?"
"She is with Ryan and Abby. There are emergency services on the way." Luke explained.
