Monday morning came bright and early for Tana, her alarm went off as expected and doing her best, she showered and got herself dressed and ready into some decent clothing, being mindful of the plaster over her ankle. With some loose legged pants, she had her bags packed and was ready. Picking up her phone, Tana logged into the Uber apps, to book herself a driver to at least get her to the train station, so she did not have to drive, yet as soon as the app was opened, there was a knock on the front door. Frowning, Tana went over to it, using the crutches to help her get along.
Opening the door was even a bigger surprise, as before the door stood the man she knew as James, Clarks driver. He was dressed formally, like she had seen him other times as well, and he seemed to be waiting. He reached out, about to knock again, so Tana let out a small sound of herself clearing her throat and letting him know somebody was there.
"Miss Tana, is that you?" James asked officially.
"Yes." She answered, her voice swimming with confusion.
"I am here to pick you up and take you to work today." James explained.
"Oh... but I was... going to book Uber, you do not have to drive me around." Tana explained.
"It is the bosses request; I cannot go against him." James told her like it was nonnegotiable.Tana let out a heavy sigh and told James to wait for a moment. She turned around, going back to the bench and collecting her things and then went back to the front door, to moved outside and lock up. James offered to take her bag and put it into the car for her so things were easier. Tana was grateful, but she knew she would have to let Clark know this was not to happen again. The car today, that James was driving was not like the other she had seen. It seemed a little smaller, and while James suggested she slip into the back, Tana felt it was nicer to sit in the front.
A couple of times, she tried to make conversation with James, to get to know him better, to find out why he always drove Clark around, and yet, the man was tight lipped and said not a word to her the whole trip. Bored, Tana let out a deep sigh and turned her head, looking out the window to the passing scenery. It seemed that catching the train most days she had not seen the main streets for a while and could see a few new developments. It was slightly different and so it kept her mind busy while they drove through the traffic easily and smoothly without any issues.
Arriving at the office building, many heads turned and looked in Tana's direction, as James escorted her to the elevators. Tana said she was ok and did not need his help, but he insisted her helped to make it easier for her. She could not say anything, and felt he was doing all this because of Clark. Tana had an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach, and hoped that Clark was not doing this, trying to help her so much because of the connected past they had. She did not want other people to question and get the wrong idea of things.
The good thing was though, when she arrived, no other staff were present in the office yet, and so Tana was able to arrive with James following and nobody needed to know. Of course, the moment they got to her desk and she sat down, to look through all the paper work that needed to be caught up on, Tana noticed that James went straight to the office of Clark and with a swift knock, waiting five seconds before he entered the room, closing the door behind him. It would seem that Clark was already in the office himself.
Deciding it was a good idea, Tana got up and went to the kitchen, using the crutches as her main support as she worked and made herself a hot chocolate and Clark his coffee. However, she soon frowned, looking down at the warm drinks. She had no idea how she was even going to carry the warm drinks. Yet, she was soon saved when a new figure entered the kitchen. Tana looked up and saw Luke had arrived. They greeted with smiles, he asked how she was feeling and she stated she was better. He asked what she was up to and she explained how she had made some warm drinks, but did not think as to how she was going to carry them. Luke laughed at her and picked them up, telling her to guide the way. He followed her to her desk, where the hot chocolate was put down and then he went to the office, knocking on the door and waiting until he was invited in. The coffee was soon taken in, and Tana left it to Luke. She would not interrupt them for now.
