IT WAS ME WHO PROMISED AND NOT HIM

"I'll stay by your side."

I promised him that.

When were in grade school.
When he was bullied by our classmates.

On our secondary.
When girls started flocking on his feet.

When he had his first girlfriend.
Heartbreak.

When his parents parted ways.
When he was depressed.

I was there. Breaking for him.
I cried with him in all his pain.

I knew all his secrets.
Maybe the reason why he became dependent on me.

He can't eat, sleep and function without seeing me.
I was there. Always.

So he fell for me. He fell in love because I stayed.
He became my Man.

" Wag mo akong iiwan ha?"
He made me promised that.

I was crying one day because of a bad news.
Kasabay ng pagkasira ng pamilya ko ang pagdating ng isang problema.

" You failed?" Galit na tanong niya sa'kin. Mas lalo akong umiyak. Bumagsak ako sa exam.

" Hindi ka makakagradweyt." Humikbi ako sa sinabi niya. Totoo yun.

I was left on college while he graduated with flying colors. He became an engineer.

He was offered big opportunities abroad.

And I know, it's me who's holding him back. He loves me, so he can't leave easily. I'm the hindrance to his promising future.

I'll miss him, I love him very much that I can sacrifice even my own happiness for him. I can't be selfish. So I begged him to go. To reach his dreams.

He was happy that I let him.
I promised to stay even if he left.

I promised to stay inlove even if he's afar.

I promised to be faithful because he's the only one.

Finally,

He came back.

My promise never changed.

And today.

I'm standing in front of him. Watching him took his vows for his bride.

My heart ached.

I fulfilled my promise.

I stayed in love and loyal.

" I p-promised, but i forgot you never did." I whispered while slowly wiping my tears.

" K-kung hindi ko kaya pinagpalit yung test paper natin dati... A-ako kaya yung nasa harapan at p-pinapangakuan mo ngayon ng panghabang-buhay na pagmamahal?" tahimik akong humikbi. My man is happy, he had everything while I'm left with nothing but a broken heart and future.
