Xukun’s POV

I haven’t been able to sleep properly. Every night I would wake up million times only to realise that the bed is empty. What is more, I can’t forgive myself for treating Ziyi like that. Maybe I was too harsh on him. He doesn’t even pick his phone as if we were a couple after an argument. I am afraid calling Yanjun would be too much so I just wait for Ziyi to call me back. Eventually he will talk with me. He has to.

And I have to find that girl and talk to her. Before she starts spreading the false rumour.

Suddenly my phone rings on the night table. I quickly take it into my hand and check the screen. To my disappointment it’s not Ziyi. It’s my father.

“Yes,” I answer hesitantly. I feel nervous waiting for him to say something. Does he have some information or only bad news? Unfortunately, I think I might know the answer for that question. And it’s not satisfying.

“Xukun, I have bad news for you. First one…” he starts. So there are more of them? “In one of today’s magazines you can find an information about you having a pregnant girlfriend but nothing more is written and it ends with a question mark. I guess that girl did it to scare us a bit. It was a warning, Xukun,” he adds.

“I guess so. We have to close this case quickly. This small clue in this magazine will get bigger with time and will transform. We have to either take care of it quietly or wait for it get bigger and then proudly announce the fraud. But we need a proof for that,” I declare. I should have just taken what Ziyi wanted to give me. I shouldn’t have got so emotional.

“You’re right. But there we go to another thing,” he starts sighing deeply. “We are meeting this girl in an hour. So get yourself together and come to my office. Better be prepared,” my father says and I am ready to hang up but his words stop me. “And please, be calm. I know you only think about Nana now but if we play it wrong, Nana might end up hating you more. Wherever she is and whatever she is doing now. If we want her back, we have to take care of this first. You know, she is a part of a family and she has been before you appeared. I really care about her too. We all do. So please, do what you have to.”

I don’t answer. This doesn’t need a respond. I just hang up instead making my way to the bathroom. I really have to pull myself together if I want to see Nana ever again.
Before I leave I text Ziyi shortly describing the situation. Maybe he will come and save me. Hopefully, Mina have found something helpful. I should have remembered that Ziyi isn’t the person that can be easily manipulated. If he trusts her, I should too.

I walk out of the building wearing the mask and the hat on. I make my way to the car when suddenly I notice a light grey hoodie. A girl with really light brown hair, a mask and black hat on looks too familiar to go unnoticed. Even though in my memory Nana has much darker hair but when her blue eyes meet with mine for a slight moment I am sure it’s her. She quickly turns around. Nana… It must be her. I know her too well.

I run after her screaming her name. “Nana! Wait! Nana, please!” She doesn’t speed up much but with time she gets lost in the crowd. I try to look for the grey hoodie walking between people that are too busy to spare me a glance. It’s still quiet early. People are going to work. They lives go on as normal. Mine goes on too. It’s just me that stopped. It all stopped after the accident since I forgot who I am. Now I remember. But I can’t come back to my previous timeline until I make everything right again.

“Nana!” I shout as I notice a girl in grey hoodie standing with her back facing me. She doesn’t move because she probably wants to trick me. But I know her too well. My hands tremble and my heart pounds in my chest as a wave of joy attacks me. I grip her shoulder tightly so she won’t escape and turn her around.
