Theme: Title: Love is not always shown in overt extravagant ways - at times it is quite subtle

My heartbeat was beating in rhythm with an upbeat song as I stood on the rooftop of my house. I could feel my eyes focused on the car that had just turned around the corner and was moving towards the house as slowly as possible. My grip on the guardrails loosened and my hair flipped as I did a three-sixty and started jogging towards the stairs with a wide smile on my face.

Just as I reached the front door, the echo of the car-door closing boomed in the silent neighbourhood. With rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes, I opened the door even before the bell could ring.

I eye-smiled at my surprised husband who was standing there with his hand half-raised towards the bell. He grinned at me and came inside as we greeted each other.

That's when I noticed the shopping bags in his hand. My forehead crinkled, "What is in these?".

He scratched the nape of his neck and stuttered, "I know we said no gifts but I just bought dinner from your favourite restaurant after getting out of office."

"And I made your favourite steak and mashed potatoes..." The two of us looked at each other and burst into laughter.

He grasped my hand and smiled, "Happy wedding anniversary".

These small things that show the two of us the simplest form of love is what I always want to cherish.

"Happy wedding anniversary to you as well".
