When Louis first saw Valentin he didn't know what to think. He was young for starters and didn't understand why he thought a boy was so cute, it confused him because in movies he never saw that.
He saw a girl and a boy. A princess and a prince. Blue and pink.
It even made him more confused as he had no true understanding on love as he never saw it from his parents. For he never knew his father and knew his mother was never one to date after the betrayal of that man.
For Louis had no idea what love was, didn't understand the small concept of a crush, but when he met Valentin and life followed, he began to realize love was like a home, and no matter how many moves or countries traveled, they would always have that place to go back to.

They had just moved from Crema, Italy to Paris, France. 'A fresh start' their mother said, for reason Louis and Leo didn't know. They were happy in Italy.
Now Louis was holding Leo's hand as they walked the airport, their mother holding Louis' other to pull them along through the crowd.
It was a simple request from their mother. 'Stay here while I get an uber.' So that's what Louis and Leo did. They sat in the lobby and waited. Leo was swinging his legs as they didn't touch the floor, Louis copying him.
At first Louis thought this travel was for his eleventh birthday that was coming up in only two days, but then he saw as their mother packed all their clothes and even their pictures, it was much more than a small vacation.
He let out a small sigh as he sat when the memory came back of only hours ago boarding a plane and saying goodbye to the place he lived for the majority of his life.
He watched as his younger brother was invested in the paper airplane he made, making noises acting as if the plane was fighting an imaginary aircraft.
Leo look at him and poked his older brothers cheek as he saw the sad expression, before going back to his plane and aiming it at his brother now.
"Sourire frère sourire!" The nine year old yells out excitedly, causing adults to glare at the child's loud voice.
("Smile brother smile!")
Louis hushes his brother and ruffles his hair before looking for their mother, letting out a frustrated huff when he can't find her.
Louis was about to stand up and look for her himself but stops when he sees something hit the front of his bag. A small purple car. Louis smiles at it sadly and picks it up, looking for the possible owner of the toy.
He smiles slightly when he sees a boy around his age walking towards him and holds the small toy out in his trembling hands.
"c'est à toi ?" Louis asks softly, smiling wider when the boy nods.
("Is this yours?")
"Bonjour... Je suis Valentin... ravi de vous rencontrer." Valentin introduces.
("Hello... I'm Valentin... Nice to meet you.")
Louis nods and hands the toy to the boy before having his hand extending in a shake. They shake as Louis introduces himself and let's out a sad sigh when Valentin walks away to go back to his big sister and mother.
Louis sits back into his seat continuing to watch the boy walk away, a small frown on his face as he realizes this new city means a fresh start, which also means no friends.

Louis was thirteen and attending the first day of school when he saw Valentin again. It was his math class, they were partnered up for introductions. Later that day when he was home he found a drawn purple car with the letter V in his backpack.
The following weeks Louis and Valentin would eat together during lunch, drawing different paintings with the color purple.
They became friends, would share secrets, give eachother compliments, laugh at the stupidest things. They began to do everything together, and as they grew Louis realized his sexuality and the crush that grew for his bestfriend.
When the last day of school came, he was given the purple car from two years ago.

On Valentin's fifteenth birthday Louis asked Valentin out with flowers in hand. The flowers were purple.

On Louis sixteenth birthday he was given a braclet with a charm of a purple car.
Their relationship in many ways was purple. Had the periwinkle shade that was of laughter, smiles, shared memories. The shade of a dark neon purple which held lust, admiration, dares.
Their love was purple in many ways, and Louis admired that for them. For their love wasn't simple. It was complex, ever growing, beautiful. It was of shades, some dark some light.
The darkest shade of their love was shown the day Valentin was found on the floor, and has been deepening to a black with each passing second.

Louis didn't know what to think when he first saw Valentin but as the years passed he realized, truly realized what love was.
It was a home, no matter how many moves or countries, there was always that place to go back too.
He loved Valentin, more than himself, maybe even more than life. He grew, learned, loved, than lost. That lost however, that emptiness he felt when Valentin left was starting to close. He knew there will always be a hole in his heart that Valentin took, but his heart wasn't entirely broken anymore. For it was healing, and each passing day the smile from Leo, the kiss from JJ, and the acceptance from the Brooks healed it.
And as Louis was sitting at breakfast with the Brooks, Leo by him and JJ infront, laughing as he slowly ate some cereal and eggs, he felt that love. He felt that acceptance.
As he was recieving a wink from the blonde every now and then, he felt that love again but this color of love wasn't purple, it was yellow, like sunflowers, bees, the sun.
He didn't know when he would admit this new feeling, or how the outcome would go, but for now that was okay.
Louis he felt love with JJ, just the shade of yellow instead.
