Louis was never one to lie before he moved to Outer Banks. Valentin could read him like a book, but upside down, backwards and with glasses that weren't the correct prescription as well. He could read him so clearly that often times Louis thought Valentin knew him more than he even knew himself, something he admired to become. He also didn't lie because he had no reason to. He had a mother who loved him endlessly, a brother who was the happiest a hormal teenager could be without a partner, and a boyfriend who brought out the flaws and showed them their beauty. So yeah, Louis didn't lie before Outer Banks, but Louis didn't do a lot before Outer Banks. He didn't think of getting wasted or drugging himself with more than addicting chemicals that rot his soul. He didn't think of starving himself to feel something, feel anything, even if that was the pain of starvation.
Louis was never one to lie, yet he felt as if he was lying everyday by acting as if he were okay.
He wasn't okay. Far from it.
Kie taps Louis on the shoulder and sends him a smile, one he tries to return but fails at. She still smiles at him though and hands him two bead braclets.
"We all wear one... I like to think they are the Pogues braclet.. Now you and Leo can have one." Kie explains.
Louis thanks her quietly at that and puts a braclet on, pocketing the other one.
As the pogues drive to there next destination, a hotel with actual service and internet, Louis can't help but feel like he is being watched. He looks to Kie to see her looking through a music magazine, Pope pointing out here and there songs he enjoyed. John B was driving, tapping at the steering wheel to the beat of the music, and then he looks to JJ, who was eyeing Louis through the rearview mirror.
Louis almost wants to hide from his gaze, his gaze digging almost too deep into his mind, almost encouraging him to open up, to explain, to reveal all his secrets. Louis looks away from the stare when he sees JJ's eyes travel to his lips through the mirror, the tension becoming too much for him.
"All right, keep a look out. We're behind enemy lines." JJ says, breaking the comfortable silence once John B pulls up to the hotel on the kooks land. He grabs the gun on the way and Louis' breath hitches in his throat. Only two nights ago did he hold a different gun, aiming it at someone. Only two nights ago did he almost end someone's life with such a weapon.
Louis physically shakes at the thought.
"Yo, come on, man. Just put it back." John B says.
"What?" JJ asks, looking at the pogues curiously. They then exit the van, Pope first, with Louis following.
"Jay. Please no." Louis whispers out, to quietly for anyone to hear.
"You can never be too careful." JJ points out, looking mostly to Pope as he had a glare across his face.
"Hey, I predict that bringing a weapon to a four-star hotel will likely cause more problems than they solve." Pope says matter of factually.
"Thank you, Pope." John B agrees.
