Henry was 17 years old, and he was stuck with his abusive parents. They would hit him and yell horrible things at him.
The young man was in he bathroom, cleaning a fresh bloody cut on his cheek. His father had beaten him because he'd had a rough day at work.
Henry stared at his beaten reflection. "One more year." He whispered. Every day he looked up at the stars and wished with all his might to be saved from this.
It was a childish thing to do, but he wasn't full of much things to be hopeful for. Henry was glad he didn't have siblings so they wouldn't have to go through what he did.
That night, he sat on the windowsill in his room, staring up at the stars with teary eyes. At night in his bed he always felt as if someone was watching him. It would remind him of something.
When Henry was little:
Henry had run into his room crying from the first time his dad had physically hit him. He never expected his own father to do that. He was only eight.
After he had no tears left to cry, he stared out the window. In the reflection, he saw his tear stained face.
But behind him there was a dark movement of shadow. Henry whipped around. His closet door was slightly opened.
He was positive it was closed before. The little boy shivered in fear. He didn't sleep, just kept his scared eyes on the door all night.
But now Henry was seventeen, almost an adult. He thought his child self must have been dreaming. But as he stared out the window, there it was again, the shadows moving behind him.
Henry turned his head. His closet door was slightly open. He wasn't a little kid anymore, he was going to figure out who was in his room at night.
Henry slowly got off the windowsill and crept towards the closet door. He reached for the handle, grabbed it, and whipped the door open.
Before Henry could let out a scream, a gloved hand covered his mouth and smothered the loud sound to a quiet sound.
Henry squirmed and tried to get away, but another arm grabbed him and forced him to look at what had grabbed him.
Henry had never known something like this existed. It was an eight foot tall demon, with a huge grin and what Henry supposed was ink dripping down so you couldn't see his eyes.
But apparently it could see just fine. Henry whined, wriggling, and failing to try and get free. The demon tilted his head.
He could tell Henry was terrified. Not if just him, but of the world around him. But he didn't intent to startle the human.
"Don't be scared." He whispered. Henry froze, staring up at the demons covered eyes. Then he started to struggle again to get away.
"I promise I won't hurt ya, please don't be scared." The demon said gently, carefully letting Henry free.
The human stumble backwards and fell into the floor. He stared with wide eyes up at the demon. The demon crouched down and sat on the floor.
"My name is Bendy, what is yer name?" Bendy asked. Henry whimpered in response. "W-why are y-y-you in here?" Henry stuttered.
"Well...every home with an abused child in it has a demon. If that parent were ta cross the line and try ta kill the child, that's where the demon steps in and kills the parents." Bendy explained.
Henry wasn't sure how to respond to that. "What...what if the child was blamed for murder?" Henry asked.
"That's the thing, nobody would be blamed. As us demons live longer in the house of a child we usually grow ta care very much for that child and would have a hatred so strong for the parents that we would be able ta put a hand on the pulse on their neck or wrist and just concentrate, and give them heart attacks, then they die." Bendy said.
Henry absentmindedly put a hand to his neck. "I wouldn't ever do that to ya, I couldn't even if I wanted ta, I can only do that ta people who I strongly hate." Bendy assured him.
"O-oh." Henry muttered. "Can ya tell me what yer name is?" Bendy asked a second time. "Henry." The human answered.
Bendy grinned bigger. "That's a nice name." He said. "So, if my parents were about to kill me, you'd kill them for me even though you don't really know much about me?" Henry asked.
He crawled forwards a bit, still sitting on the ground. "Yes, children can be influenced ta bad or good but they don't deserve death because they never tried murderin a child." Bendy explained.
"But I'm not a child. I'm seventeen, and eighteen is when I'm legally and adult. What happens then? Do you just...leave?" Henry asked.
"That's when the demon would usually show him or herself ta the now adult child if they hadn't already, and the child would either let them stay or make them leave.
So it's all up to ya in a year if I leave or not." Bendy said. Right now, Henry just wasn't sure. But it was a year, so he would decide then.
The human yawned, tired and needing to go to bed. But he wasn't done asking questions yet. "Since I'm not a child, would you still *yawn* give my parents heart attacks if they tried to kill me?" Henry asked tiredly.
"Of course." Bendy said, as if it were doing something nice for another person and not murdering.
Henry stood up and walked over to where Bendy sat. He tilted his head as he stared into the small closet. "How do you sleep in here?" He asked.
"It's cramped, but I manage." Bendy said. Henry sat down beside him. "If a person told you to leave, would you *yawn* get to go to another child after?" Henry asked.
Bendy shook his head. "Ya only ever get to look after one child. And then we go back ta the underworld." Bendy said.
Henry could tell by the demons voice he didn't like the underworld very much. Henry was about to ask another question when he felt his tiredness overlap him and he passed out.
Bendy watch Henry's eyes close and the human fall sideways into the demons lap, slowly breathing. He was asleep.
Bendy couldn't help but think how adorable Henry looked. The demon gently picked him up and put him in his bed, tucking him in as if he were still a child.
Henry smiled in his sleep. The first smile he'd had in a long time. Then he heard voices outside the door and hid in the closet.
"A week from now everything will be set up and Henry will be dead and we'll get money from it. They won't suspect a thing, because what I have planned will cover up any traces of it being us." A man's voice said.
"Perfect." A woman's voice responded. Bendy quietly growled. They were planning to kill Henry. And Bendy wouldn't let it happen.
So every night that week, as it got closer and closer to Henry's supposed death day, the two would sit side by side in the door of the closet and Henry would ask Bendy questions about demons, and they would just talk and laugh.
But the night before Henry's parents would try and kill him, Bendy asked Henry a question. "Hey Henry, if yer parents were planning to kill ya, would ya rather me not kill em or do kill em?" Bendy asked.
Henry already knew the answer. "Kill them. I mean, I usually wouldn't want people to die but they're horrible people, not just to me.
Example, the neighbours try and be nice to them but they're always so mean to them, saying horrible things in addition to daily flipping them off every time they try and speak to them." Henry said, a scowl on his face.
Bendy could tell how much Henry hated his parents. Soon he had fallen asleep. The next night, after Henry fell asleep and Bendy carried him to his bed and tucked him in like a child, Bendy didn't go back to the closet.
Henry's parents were going to try and kill him tonight. So Bendy curled up like a cat or a protective dog on the end of Henry's bed, and waited, his eyes locked on the door.
At around midnight, the door handle rattled and Henry's parents came in, one of the holding a knife. Bendy slipped off Henry's bed and into the shadows, going behind them.
He closed and locked the door, using demon magic to lock it so they couldn't get out. Then he crouched low to the ground and tripped the parent that didn't have the knife.
It was the mother, and she fell to the ground loudly enough to startle Henry awake. He sat in his bed, staring at his own father holding a knife and approaching his bed.
He was about to charge at Henry but two strong hands grabbed his wrists. The mother screamed and ran towards the door, wrenching and pushing on it but it wouldn't open.
Henry looked terrified. So did his parents. "Henry I'll ask yer permission, as they are trying to kill ya, if I should kill them?" Bendy asked. Henry wasn't sure what to say.
He got up and walked over to his dad. He glared at him. "Henry what is the meaning of this?" His dad growled.
"You're sick, Y'know that? If you never wanted a child, shouldn't have done that then." Henry said, glaring hatefully at his dad.
"It didn't have to be this way, but you made it that way when you abused me." Henry sighed. He looked up at Bendy.
"Kill them both." He said. Bendy nodded and placed his hand on the old man's neck pulse, concentrating. The walls had inky black veins on them as the demon did this.
Then, the dads eyes misted over and he fell dead onto the ground. It disturbed Henry, but he knew they deserved that.
Then Bendy did the same to his screaming mother. Despite all the pain they put the poor man through, Henry couldn't help but feel pitiful and guilty about them dying.
Bendy saw Henry's saddened expression. He walked over to the bed where Henry was sitting. "It was the right thing to do, now they can't hurt anyone ever again." Bendy said, putting a comforting hand on Henry's shoulder.
What surprised the demon was Henry wrapping his arms around him and hugging him, the humans face in his chest.
Bendy hugged him back, and slowly rocked him back and forth until he fell asleep. The demon tucked him in and then looked at him.
Henry was writhing around in his sleep uncomfortably, most likely having a terrible nightmare.
He reached out and grabbed Bendy's hand in his sleep. The demon gently ran his hand through Henry's soft brown hair.
Henry smiled a bit and sighed. 'That's too adorable!' Bendy thought. He then left to go place the corpses of Henry's parents in their bed.
He just kind of threw them onto the bed, not thinking much of it. He returned to Henry's room. The demon sighed.
He looked at the cramped closet he always slept in. He hated it. But he had no other choice so- that's where he went.
As he placed his hand on the doorknob, there was a quiet voice behind him. "Isn't it uncomfortable in there? You could...you could sleep with me if you wanted to...?" Henry said awkwardly.
Bendy grinned. Henry's face was bright red, and although it was dark, Bendy could see that he was blushing.
The demon crawled onto the end of Henry's bed and curled up like a cat. Henry felt a bit more safe. But he couldn't sleep.
He could here the demons breath even out and Henry assumed he was asleep. So the human sat up, crawled over to him, and laid down right beside him. Bendy was still awake though.
"Y'know I'm not asleep." Bendy chuckled. He saw Henry's face blush again. But the demon pulled the human closer to him.
Henry looked confused. Bendy leaned his face down and kissed him. Henry was so dark red he was surprised he didn't explode.
Bendy snuggled Henry like he were a teddy bear. Henry couldn't help but smile. Then he heard a low rumbling noise.
"A-are you purring?" Henry asked in surprise. Bendy didn't respond, but purred louder. Demons really reminded Henry of cats.
Henry just laughed and cuddled with Bendy, feeling very safe.
