Some Norman x Sammy requested by
@-TransFoxBoi- also feel free to leave requests because after this one I'm out I think.

If there was one thing the employees of Joey Drew studios knew about Sammy Lawrence, it was that he almost never smiled. Sammy would only smile if something was absolutely hilarious to him. That meant a laugh was even more rare, in fact none of the employees have heard his laugh before.
None of them have even seen him smile before. Some of them tried many many times in many ways, yet they never seemed to work. At least Sammy wasn't mean all the time, he was nice when you were nice to him. However, that didn't mean he'd smile at you.
Norman Polk, the studios projectionist, worked near Sammy, his office was just above Sammy's in fact. He decided he'd make it a goal to get Sammy to smile, but his goal was set among...other things, involving the musician.
It was a lovely spring morning and even though Norman was far enough away from the studio he should've drove, he decided to go for a long walk instead.
He found that the dullness of cities like the one he lived in could be overrun in different ways each season. In spring he liked looking along the sidewalk and seeing grass sprout up from cracks in the cement.
To keep his mind occupied as he walked he searched for birds in the few trees that a city could have, which were mostly pigeons, and looked along the ground to see if any flowers had bloomed yet.
However, no matter how hard he tried to keep him out of his mind, Sammy was there. His smart remarks and stunning blue eyes. Norman found himself soon only thinking about the musician after a small while.
He spotted a pretty sky coloured flower and picked it, placing it in his jacket pocket. As he looked back up along the slightly busy sidewalk, he spotted a familiar spike of blonde hair ahead of him. He dashed to catch up to Sammy, smiling as he poked his shoulder in a way of greeting his fellow employee. "Good morning Sammy!" He said with a grin to the short musician.
Sammy glanced up and saw Norman, the corner of his mouth twitched as if he were trying to hide a smile. "Good morning Norman." He responded, returning his gaze to the sidewalk ahead of him.
"Do you remember what day it is? I'm always forgetting." Norman stuck his hands in his pockets, staring at Sammy out of the corner of his eye.
"Friday." Sammy replied, slightly glancing at Norman as he spoke. "Since when do you walk to work? Don't you drive in a truck?" The musician asked, lacing his hands behind his back.
"Yeah I usually do, but it's a really nice morning so I decide to walk. Didn't think I'd run into you but that's just a bonus of deciding to walk." Norman smiled lightly. "Oh! I also found this growing out of the sidewalk, I thought it might've been the same blue as your eyes but I wasn't a hundred percent sure." Norman took the flower from his pocket and held it beside Sammy's face.
The short man looked up at him weirdly, raising an eyebrow in wonder at what went on in the projectionist's mind. "Hmm, it's nearly the same colour." Norman shrugged and saw Sammy's jacket had a chest pocket, and let the flower fall into the pocket.
Sammy glanced at the flower now in his pocket, and then back up to Norman who was gazing ahead of them with a warm smile on his face. "Why'd you put it in my pocket?" Sammy asked. "Do you not want it back?"
Norman turned to look at him, then said, "You should keep it, it looks nice on you and it matches your eyes." He said. Sammy's face flushed and a tiny smile spread over his lips. Norman let out a small gasp. "You smiled!" He said, a big stupid grin stretching across his face.
Sammy gave him a confused look. "Eh? Why're you surprised?" He asked, wondering why it was so shocking he was capable of smiling.
"Oh, it's just that I've never seen you smile before, neither has anyone else in the studio apparently. Never heard you laugh either." Norman explained.
Sammy rolled his eyes. "Well, aren't you surprised I have emotions?" He said sarcastically. Norman let out a small laugh. They reached the door of the studio and went inside.
As they neared the door to the music department and the staircase separating their ways, Norman turned to look at Sammy before they parted ways. "Y'know, you should smile more. A smile looks nice on you." He said before turning and walking up the stairs.
Sammy took a moment to let this face cool down before entering the music department to instruct the band. After band practice was over, he tried to remember where he'd put his music sheets the day before.
He heard a loud clink against the floor and turned to see a screwdriver rolling away from the wall after hitting the ground. "Hey Sammy, could you throw that up here?" Norman called from the projectionist booth.
Sammy picked the screwdriver up, looking at Norman. "Why don't you just not fix projectors on the ledge?" Sammy asked.
"Good point, however at the moment my desk is kinda cluttered." Norman responded. "Can you throw that up here?"
Sammy glanced down at the green handled screwdriver in his hand before looking back up at Norman. "What if I accidentally hit you?" The musician said.
Norman let out a slightly annoyed huff. "Then I'll die, no big deal just chuck it up here." He said, holding his hands out over the railing.
Sammy just turned and walked out the door, then up the stairs to the projectionists booth. He held out the screwdriver to Norman. The projectionist took it, brushing his fingers against Sammy's.
"You're lucky I'm not Wally, he would've tried to see how durable your skull is." Sammy said, turning to leave.
"Hey Sammy." Norman said, grabbing Sammy's wrist to stop him from leaving. He hesitated as if he were going to say something different, but just smiled and said, "Smile."
Sammy rolled his eyes and turned back around so Norman couldn't see that he was smiling. He opened the door but stopped, turning back to look at Norman.
"Were you going to say something else? Because it sounded like that wasn't what you wanted to say, Y'know, you hesitated a lot before just simply saying smile." Sammy said, hands on his hips and an eyebrow raised curiously.
"I...I uh...no?" Norman said slowly, almost as if he were asking. Sammy gave him a look and the projectionist looked away, face flushed red.
"What is it?" Sammy asked. Norman didn't respond, wringing his hands and staring over the railing.
"I won't judge, I promise." Sammy said. Norman just shook his head. "How about I tell you one of my secrets if you tell me what's wrong?" Sammy asked.
Norman knew he wasn't getting out of it, and it wasn't like it would get any better if he just bottled everything up. "Fine, but feel free to hate me." Norman eventually responded.
"So uh...well, there's no easy way around it, I've had a crush on you since we first met, and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go out sometime?" Norman asked awkwardly, tilting his head and eyes flicking from the wall to Sammy.
Sammy wasn't expecting that, and wasn't sure what to say. "Oh, well see that's a coincidence because my secret is the exact same." Sammy smiled lightly.
Wally suddenly burst through the music departments door below them. "Sammy, Norman?" He called.
The two leaned over the railing. "We're up here." Norman said.
"Y'know it's Friday, right?" Wally asked, looking up at them with an 'are you stupid' look.
"Yeah...so?" Sammy gave the janitor a confused look.
"Soooo, Joey's makin his rounds an makin sure everyone's workin, and he's almost to the music department." Wally warned.
"Oh shit, I keep forgetting he does that every Friday." Sammy said, dashing from the projectionist booth. He turned to look at Norman before leaving.
"Smile Norman, you brighten up a room when you do." Sammy said, then left with a grin of his own plastered to his face.
Norman laughed silently to himself after Sammy left. He was such a simp.
