"For god's sake, will you please just pick up the phone?" Henry growled, glaring over at the angel toon who was just watching the phone ring. Alice sighed dramatically before picking it up off the receiver.
"Detective Bendy and Co. This is the receptionist Alice Angel speaking, what can I help you with, dear?" Alice put on a fake sweet voice, though she still frowned at Henry. The human heard a panicked voice on the other side, but he couldn't make out what they were saying. "Yes sir, I'll get the detectives right on that. Name and address please?" Alice asked. More muffled talking.
Just then, Bendy walked in the room, ducking in the doorway because of how tall he was. "Did we get another case, or is Alice harassing scammers again?" The demon asked, turning to look at Henry and leaning against the human's desk. Henry gave a shrug, still trying and failing to hear the conversation through the phone.
"Thank you, they'll be on their way." Alice said, then hung up the phone. The other two in the room looked over at her expectantly. "We've got a kidnapped husband by the name of Wally Franks, the guy who called is named Jack Franks, and I'll write down their address here for you. While I'm doing that, why don't you guys get Norman and Sammy?" Alice suggested, scribbling down the address on a loose slip of paper.
"I'll get them." Henry offered, dashing out of the office. Alice glanced up for a moment to make sure he had gone, before giving a smug grin to Bendy.
"Sooo, when are you gunna ask him out?" She asked teasingly, smiling wider as the Demon's face flushed red.
"What the hell are ya goin' on about? I don't like Henry like that!" Bendy spluttered, crossing his arms while his tail twitched irritably. Alice only giggled, not even trying to hide it when Henry walked back into the room, looking at her curiously. Norman and Sammy walked in behind him.
"What's so funny?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at Alice. She simply shook her head before handing the address to Bendy.
"Let's get goin'!" Bendy said quickly, hoping to distract Henry from Alice's laughing. The demon gave one last glare to the angel before leaving the room. Henry shrugged to himself and followed, Norman and Sammy close behind them.
They drove to their destination, Henry not letting Bendy drive the car despite the demon really wanting to. ("Last time you drove we almost crashed!") The group was met with a panicked looking man. "We're detectives, you called, tell us what happened." Sammy said blankly.
"Right so uh, Wally and I were getting ready to go to bed, but when I entered the room only a minute after him, the window was wide open and someone was dragging him away, I-I'm pretty sure he was unconscious too, but I have no clue who the hell it could possibly be! We don't have any enemies or...or-anything like that!" Jack burst out, eyes wide and full of tears.
"Well, let's have a look at the crime scene then?" Henry suggested. Jack led the four into the bedroom and up to the window. "Oh, yeah someone must've broke this." Henry said, gazing at the glass shattered everywhere.
"Really? What could've possibly given it away?" Sammy said sarcastically, earning a hard glare from both Henry and Bendy.
"I was meaning, we should probably try and figure out what they broke the window with, Samuel." Henry growled. While the two argued, Norman leaned carefully over the glass shards on the window sill to look outside and on the ground he spotted spots of blood.
"Either they cut Wally open for just a tiny bit of blood, or they punched the window because they forgot to bring something to break it." He said, stopping the other two human's argument. The four detectives all looked at each other.
"What kinda stupid fuckin criminal would have the limited brain to not use a rock instead?" Bendy asked, rolling his eyes although nobody could see it through the ink on his face. The four suddenly all looked art each other. "Joey Drew!" They all said at the same time.
"Did Wally perhaps work at a company with a boss or coworker that looks like this?" Henry pulled a photo of the criminal up on his phone and showed it to Jack.
"Hey! That's our boss at work. You aren't saying...he took Wally, did he?" Jack asked, looking very worried.
"I'm afraid that's what it points to, Mr. Franks." Henry said. "Now, why don't you show Sammy and Norman here where you work in case he's there, while me and Bendy will go follow the obvious trail he left of dragging an unconscious body through mud, as this path here indicates he let the victim's feet drag on the ground while taking him away." Henry instructed.
Jack nodded and led the other two humans out of the house. Instead of using the door, Henry hopped through the window. "You'd think a criminal this good at escaping would be more careful, he must be setting up some sort of trap for our demise." Henry said. Bendy crawled through the window after him.
"How flatterin'." The demon grinned at the human as he let out a small laugh. The two followed the trail of dragging feet through mud, soon ending up at an abandoned looking house. "Abandoned house just outside of the city? Kidnapping an innocent citizen to gain our attention? Most likely putting a plan into action the second we step through that door and probably failing and getting arrested or killed himself? Jeez, if this guy ain't cliché then I dunno what is." Bendy said, gazing at the overgrown garden.
"No kidding." Henry responded, climbing cautiously up the front porch that looked as if it were on the verge of collapsing. He pushed the door open and the two carefully walked inside, glancing around them for any sudden movements. "Helloooo? We've come to arrest you." Henry called into the dark house. Bendy glanced at the wall and spotted a light switch.
"The least he coulda done was bust the switch, I mean honestly, this is just sad." Bendy huffed, flicking the switch. Dim lights flickered to life an illuminated the room, revealing a half open door at the end of a hallway. "Ooh, I wonder what could possibly be on the other side of that door, don't you Henny?" Bendy asked sarcastically. Henry gave a hum of agreement before stepping into the next room.
There was a metal clang as Henry leapt back and something fell from the door. It was a metal bowl. "This bitch really thought that'd even knock someone out?" Bendy scoffed, looking down at it with slight disappointment. "I was kinda hopin' for something life threatening to be honest." He added.
"No...I think that was just a distraction." Henry said, peering into the reflection of the bowl, he could see several dimly lit figures holding what looked like guns. "DUCK!" Henry shouted as he saw them raise to shoot.
"Where?" Bendy asked, looking around on the floor as Henry ran behind the door for cover. A bullet narrowly missed his head and Henry yanked him behind the door next to him.
"No you idiot, they have guns!" Henry shouted over now loud gunfire. It suddenly stopped when the shooters realized they were hiding. "What do we do now?" Henry whispered. "I doubt just us and our pistols will do much damage compared to five or six other people with rifles!"
"I dunno! Throw shit at 'em?" Bendy suggested, although there was nothing within their reach they could throw.
"No point in hiding detectives!" A voice rang out, Joey's voice to be precise. "We've finally got you cornered, you're done meddling with me once and for all." He growled.
"Not quite yet, considering we're not dead and we have a phone and could call the police on you." Henry said.
"But what's the fun in that? I say we do this instead-" Bendy said before ripping the door off its hinges and slowly advancing towards the shooters, using the door as a shield. He threw the door and it took down two out of six shooters, knocking them out cold. That's when they noticed a man tied up and gagged in the corner, looking like he'd been beaten up a fair bit.
"Shit, I didn't think this through." Bendy said, realizing they were now defenceless and surrounded by four men with rifles.
"Eh, buying some time was all we really needed anyways, here comes Sammy, Norman, and a very pissed off Jack." Henry said, pointing to the door. Everyone was still for a moment before Bendy punched one of the guys and a fight broke out. There was gun shots and blood, punching and screaming. Joey made his way over to Wally.
He forced the victim to his feet, pointing a gun to his head and looking over at the four detectives, who froze and looked over, each of Joey's guys having been beat up and on the floor. "Come any closer and I'll shoot him." Joey warned, to which Wally made distressed noises through his gag.
However, before anyone could utter a single word, someone rammed a chair into the back of Joey's head, knocking the criminal unconscious. "I'm the only one who gets to tie him up, you bitch." Jack growled, dropping the chair on the blacked out man. He quickly untied Wally and the two shared a kiss, happily reunited.
"Aww, almost makes me wish I wasn't lonely." Henry said, looking over at the two. Bendy glanced over at the light brown haired human, tail anxiously whipping side to side.
"Hey uh, Henry?" He started, becoming more nervous with each passing second. The man looked up at him in response, showing he had his attention. "I've been meanin' ta ask ya...well, we've known each other for quite a while now and I've grown to really like ya, an I was wonderin' if maybe ya wanted to go out with me sometime?" Bendy asked, wringing his hands together.
Henry blankly stared at him for a few moments, processing what the demon had just said. "I...yeah! I would love to! I really like you as well." Henry smiled up at him, face glowing pink. Bendy grinned widely, now becoming very excited.
"Well, for now we'd better get these guys off to jail." Henry jabbed a thumb in the direction of the unconscious criminals. After calling the police and watching the cop cars drive away, the group headed back to Jack's and Wally's home where their car was still parked, the married couple being overly affectionate the whole walk there.
As they walked, Henry kept his gaze ahead but reached over and held onto Bendy's hand, lightly smiling to himself when Bendy squeezed his hand back.

I've been watching way too much Sam and Max lately. Good show, funny. I recommend it if you like cartoons, you can watch it for free on YouTube.
