Isaac tore down the block his nose still filled with the scent of blood. He had to find her. Sage was his only hope. He searched around the block, but he could barely see in the pouring rain.

Focus Isaac. You can only tap into your true nature if your mind is clear. Sage's voice reminded him from the previous day. Sage had sat him down after school in the lacrosse field and helped him unlock some of his wolf senses. Strangely enough, Isaac learned that Sage had a very distinct scent that reminded him of cinnamon.

Isaac ran a few fingers through his wet hair. Relax. He told himself. He focused on the sound of rain hitting the pavement, trying to dive deeper into what Sage explained to him. Soon enough, the tiniest scent of cinnamon drifted into his nose. Isaac opened his eyes and could tell that the scent dirfted around the corner to a local hotel. He opened the door and the chiming of bells drew him out of his wolf-state.

"Excuse me does a girl named Sage live here?" He asked. The lady at the desk looked at him.

"121" She said flatly, and returned back to her book.

Isaac navigated throughout the winding halls and found a door tucked in the corner of the small hotel. He knocked on it, and it swung open.

Sage stood in front of him, wearing a big grey shirt and sweatpants. She looked at him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked. She handed him a towel. "You're soaking wet. Did you run all the way?"

"Yeah, but something happened."

Sage looked up at him, her eyes filled with concern.

"Something attacked my dad. We were out a few blocks and I hid in an alleyway. I heard some ripping and yelling but I only came out after and saw lots of blood, and I think he's dead." Isaac said, realizing that he was talking faster by the word. Sage picked all of it up, and handed him an umbrella.

"We have to talk to Derek."

"I thought you hated him." Sage cracked a smile.

"I do, but he has the right to know. He's your alpha and he'll tear me apart if I know something that he doesn't."

"Sounds like you're a babysitter." Isaac said. Sage tilted her head slightly, thinking about this.

"I guess I am." She said, and lead Isaac back out the doors.

It was probably the longest run Isaac had every taken, but his muscles weren't tired. They ached for more excitement as Sage and he ran along the slippery sidewalks, occasionally ducking for cover under some overhangs.

Sage shoved open the door to the subway, but she looked at Isaac first.

"Hey, you okay?" She asked softly. The rain dripped down her face, and strand of wet hair clung to her cheek. Isaac nodded, but he wasn't. He was terrified. Whatever had broken into the graveyard was still out there.

Sage swung open the door. "Derek!" She yelled. She grabbed Isaac's hand and they ran down the stairs and she pulled him into the subway car.

"What." Derek said. He was standing in the dark, but all you could see were his deep red eyes.

"I think my dad's dead." Isaac said.

"What did you do?!" Derek asked. Isaac shook his head.

"It wasn't him." Sage said. Derek stared down at her.

"You don't know that." He said.

"But it wasn't!" Isaac cried. Sage looked at Derek, her eyes red, but in a panic. Some sort of understanding passed between the both of them, but it was too complicated for Isaac to understand.

They both took a breath, and Sage blinked back her true eye color.

"There's a full moon tomorrow night." Sage said softly. She looked at Isaac, her face was hard again, as if she didn't want to let any emotion seep through again.

"Wait, tomorrow?" Isaac asked. Derek nodded.

"How do you do it?" Sage asked. It seemed like a weird question but Derek held up a long metal chain. Sage nodded slighty and Isaac winced.

"You're going to tie me down?" He asked. Derek shrugged.

"It's for the best."

"You don't want to go on killing sprees now do you?" Sage asked. "If we don't tie you down, then someone, most likely Derek or I, is going to get hurt." Sage said.

"I could control it." Isaac said. It seemed a little hard, but not that hard. A tiny smile played on Sage's lips.

"That's what they all say. Your human self-consciousness hibernates and the wolf side of you takes over. Most people don't even remember their first full moon." Derek said.

"My friend was bitten and the morning after her first full moon she woke up in the middle of Nevada." Sage said humorless. Isaac's eyes widened. "Don't worry. You have two pure-blooded, totally experienced Alphas who'll take care you."

Sage patted his shoulder.

"I'm the babysitter, remember? It's my job."

"Babysitter?" Derek asked. Sage shrugged.

"So what did you see?" She asked.

"Nothing. I just saw a lot of blood and I could barely see anything in the rain." Isaac replied.

"Do you think it's whoever broke into the graveyard?" Derek asked.

"What?" Sage asked wildly.

"Someone robbed a grave last night and at the same time they were looking for a girl who was bitten and ran away from the hospital last night. We think it's her." Derek explained quickly. Sage rubbed her temples.

"I need to be caught up later." She muttered. "But the police will be at the scene soon, and we can't do anything right now. That's the worst part. Waiting."

"I don't have anywhere to go." Isaac said.

"You can stay here," Derek said gruffly, already walking away. "You're going to be here for full moon anyway."

Sage looked at him and they both understood.

Now we wait.
