His eyes bore into her, analyzing her as if he was calculating how to make her break. His fingers closed onto a silver blade he had found. Sage watched in horror as his fingers wrapped around Gwen's thin arm. She cried out in pain as the blade pierced her skin, drawing blood. Sage struggled against the grip of her captor, but her mother wasn't home to protect the girls.
Sage tried to blink away the memory, but it was done hiding. Sage rubbed her eyes, but blood pasted her vision.
Gwen screamed as the blade dug deeper, reaching the bone. Sage knew that she was going to be okay, but her sister's screaming made her so angry.
Her father moved onto Jennifer. Her pale was now a ghost white, and she was already crying. This wasn't fair at all. Jennifer had just had her first full moon. She was way to young for this kind of torture.
Sage knew this wasn't a punishment for Gwen or Jennifer, but a punishment for herself.
"Stop." Sage choked as her father raised his arm to maim.
He stooped down to Sage's level, and Sage saw the insanity, hatred, and terror in his eyes.
"But why my little monster?" He cooed. "You three aren't meant to be real, just a freak accident of nature. I'm the boss here, not you." He said, grinning.
The grip on Sage's arm was released and she ran to Gwen and Jennifer and hugged them tightly. Sage wanted to take them away, but she was too young. If only she had the power to keep him away. If only she had the power to kill him.
Sage stared up at the stranger in terror.
NO! She screamed in her mind. This isn't real! That was long ago!
Sage struggled to keep her heartbeat under control. She wasn't scared. She wasn't hurt anymore. Isaac was wrong. She didn't reach her climax yet, she wasn't at her breaking point. It was too early to break. She was strong. Sage wanted to be invincible.
"Derek." She said cooly. "Are you okay?"
A muffled response made Sage feel a little bit better. "Go home and check on betas." Derek said drowsily, and Sage didn't like turning her back on Derek with the stranger. Something about him made her itch with anxiety, but Sage turned into the woods.
As she was running, she turned a corner and literally bumped into someone. It was her first welcome into Beacon Hills ceremony again.
"Deaton?" She asked. Deaton smiled and nodded, but recognized her wounds and took attention to them.
"Full moon trouble?" He asked concerned.
"You have no idea. Derek's in the house over there, and I think he might need some of your guidance." Sage said.
"What about you?"
"I have betas back at Derek's place and I need to make sure that they haven't murdered one another." Sage said, smiling on how silly that sounded.
Deaton smiled and handed Sage something soft. A bandage roll.
"One a vet, always a vet." He said. Sage took it gratefully and continued trudging along on the wooded path.
Isaac was still wide awake when Sage snuck into the subway station. He smiled weakly as she leaned up against the pole facing him.
"Is Derek okay?"
Sage nodded, knowing that words would give away her lie.
"You weren't gone for a while, which is nice." He said. Sage smiled a little bit.
