"Sage pick the lock." Derek ordered as he swung a clawed hand at the Kanima. Sage's stomach throbbed with every step, but she was going to make it. Sage body slammed the kanima away from Scott's mom and she shoved a bobby pin into the lock. Her mind was racing at a million miles an hour, but her main priority was to get Scott's mom home safely.
"I am so sorry that you have to see this." Sage said through the bars. "Melissa is it?" Melissa nodded, tears welling up in her eyes.
The lock clicked and Sage slipped in the cell, making sure that she wouldn't lock herself in. That would suck a lot.
Melissa was hunched in the corner, probably scared out of her mind.
"It's going to be okay. I promise you. This probably isn't the best time to explain everything, but Scott's going to be here soon." Sage said, she went to stoop down, but her knee hit her bullet wound, sending a wave of pain flooding through her body. She drew a sharp breath and bit her tongue. Melissa saw the bloody hole.
"Sit down, let me help you." She said. Sage shook her head.
"No, no I'm fine. I'll heal."
"I don't know about that sweetie. It looks bad." Sage wished that Melissa knew that she was going to heal, because she wouldn't take no for an answer. Sage was going to shrug it off again, but Melissa's hands were already on her stomach, slowly working out the bullet. Sage yelped as Melissa somehow pulled the bullet out of her, but it hurt so badly that her eyes reacted to the pain, flashing a bright red.
Melissa's eyes widened, and Sage wished that she had just left the bullet in.
"You're like him?" She cried and scrambled back.
"No, it's just a reflex. I'm not going to hurt you. Scott's going to explain everything to you, but I assure you right now, that I am going to get you out of this building without a scratch, even if I have to take another bullet." Sage said. Her eyes glanced to Derek, who was wrestling the Kanima, in full form.
"Don't worry about him." Sage said quickly, and gently held out her hand.
Melissa didn't want to take it. Sage looked at her calmly.
"Why wouldn't Scott tell me?" She asked.
"I know that Scott wouldn't want you to step in and get hurt. I promise you that Scott is doing what's right." Sage whispered. Melissa's fingers grazed Sage's and Sage grabbed her hand and nearly ran out of the door.
"Scott!" Sage yelled, but saw Derek first. Scott turned the hallway, and Sage let out a long breath. "Great. It's my two favorite people . Scott, you have some serious explaining to do to your mother, and Derek, we need to get home."
Derek's face was about to protest, but Sage put her foot down. She could feel her eyes turn a blazing red in anger.
"No. Don't even speak. I am not in the mood right now. There are very important matters we have to attend to, and I suggest that you do not fight me on this. I am an alpha too and I need to have my business taken care of, and the last time that I checked, we just left three betas alone on a full moon." Sage said. Scott stared at her like she was bizarre.
"How do you even do that?" He asked, but Sage wasn't going to answer. She marched down the hallway with Derek on her heels.
The second that Sage shut the door, Derek spilled.
"Scott's been feeding information about us to the Argents." He snarled in anger.
"What?"
"What do you think I said? He's been telling the Argents everything about us! That's how they know!" He said.
