"I don't like this." Her mom said, her eyes were narrowed and dangerous. Sage looked up from her book.

"It'll be fun." She said happily. Her mom shook her head and glared at him. He looped his fingers and looked over at Sage. He seemed excited, and seemed as if he'd been waiting a long time to to this. Her mom sat to the side, but kept a steady eye on Sage.

Sage got up from her seat and stood in front of him in the middle of the room. She looked up at him.

"Put your feet like this." He said, moving his feet to a place. She copied him, but her legs were too small. She put one foot a little bit in front of the other. "Bend your knees." He corrected. "Keep on your toes. You're small, but use that so you will win."

Sage obeyed him and he swung a hand at her. She squeaked in fear and jumped back, stumbling backwards. He kept attacking her, swinging bare hands at her sides, and grabbing her arms. Sage had no idea what to do. His eyes sparkled dangerously and it started to scare Sage. Her back touched the wall, and she started to panic. She couldn't run anywhere.

When he threw a hand at her face, Sage ducked to the floor and crawled between his legs in an escape. When he turned around, she realized what she had done. She'd traded places with him. Sage put her small hands flat on his chest and pushed him against a wall.

He smiled at her proudly. "Good job, but don't ever let yourself be cornered. Always fight back. You are the predator, they are your prey."

"Stop!" Sage cried aloud, breaking away. She fell to the floor, her sweaty palms spread out on the cold marble. "Leave it at there." She ordered, gasping for breath. blood dripped from the claw marks on the back of her neck. Her breaths shook her whole body, and for the first time, she felt weak. Everything that she knew was a lie now, and there was proof. She hadn't slept a full night in about a month or two, and these memories were going to keep her awake for another six. She trembled with exhaustion and anger.

"Was the memory too strong?" Deucalion asked her. Sage turned to him.

"How long was I around you?" She asked. He didn't ignore the anger in her voice, but he seemed used to it. Sage could still see the faint white line where she'd managed to claw his cheek him a few days ago.

"Until you were eleven. Your mother became preoccupied with other jobs and didn't want you around me." Deucalion sighed a small bit, as if it was something he'd regretted.

"Why?"

"Even though Marissa was one of my betas, she didn't agree with the way I was training you. I tried to have teach her to train you but she was too soft, and you didn't learn anything valuable. I kept training you because you were a prodigy. There was something in you I wanted to uncover, but she felt that I was too harsh and hid you away." Deucalion told her. Sage stared at his face, trying to figure out what he was thinking, and she could see some anger in the tightness of his mouth. He must have really wanted to train me, Sage thought. But why? Wasn't that always the question?

"Did you know my father at all?" Sage asked. She didn't bother correcting herself. She was not ready at all to call this stranger 'Dad'.

Deucalion's face hardened, his jaw clenched, and he nodded. "Unfortunately I did." Sage looked right through his sunglasses, and saw the thoughts in his eyes. Anger flared inside of her.

"You knew didn't you?" Sage asked, her voice quiet. She glared up at him. He nodded slightly, as and winced, bracing for her anger. "And you didn't do anything?" he didn't respond. Sage stood up, her claws growing out of her nails. "How dare you! Do you know how long I suffered? I was tortured! Do you know what he could do? He would play with my healing by stabbing me with knives for pleasure!" She screamed at him. "He almost killed one of my sisters and you knew about it? Every night when my mother with meeting with her pack he would torture us!" Sage knew what to say just to get to him. "If you really cared, you would have done something."
