"Oh. Good morning, Kymber!" Bobby said as he walked out of his apartment the next morning. She was standing in the hallway locking her door.
"Good morning, Captain Nash." Kymber said without making eye contact.
"Do you want a ride to work?" Bobby asked, locking his door.
"I'm alright... I'd rather just walk." Kymber said.
"Kymber, it's a long walk." Bobby dropped his shoulders.
"I did it yesterday." Kymber shrugged as she turned to walk out of the building.
"I know you're still uncomfortable about the whole situation between us... But we work together now. Can we at least talk about it?" Bobby asked, following after her.
"What is there to talk about, Captain Nash? The fact that I like you and I can't do anything about it? Or the fact that I am embarrassed to go to work because I have a crush on my boss?" Kymber stopped in the middle of the hallway.
"Please call me Bobby. And look, I realize that the situation isn't ideal... Hell, I wish I weren't your boss because I..." Bobby cut himself off.
"You what, Bobby?" Kymber turned around to look at him.
"Uh..." Bobby looked down.
"Oh now you're the one that doesn't want to talk? Figures..." Kymber turned and started walking towards the stairwell.
"Kymber, wait." Bobby ran up behind her, "You want to know what I was going to say?"
"Yeah, actually. I do." Kymber said, holding the door to the stairwell open.
"I like you too, Kymber." Bobby grabbed her shoulders and pulled her in for a kiss, "But this is the only time that I can do anything about it because I am your boss."
"Wait... You just... Did we?... Are you..." Kymber looked around confused.
"Are you good?" Bobby chuckled as he ran his thumb over his bottom lip.
"Did you just kiss me?" Kymber asked in shock.
"Are you mad?" Bobby took a step back.
"Well, no... I very much enjoyed it... I just thought..." Kymber started before Bobby grabbed her around the waist and kissed her again, "That you weren't supposed to do that."
"I'm not... But now that I've done it, I don't want to stop..." Bobby sighed.
"What does that mean?" Kymber asked.
"It means that I don't want to stop kissing you." Bobby smiled.
"But you could get in trouble with the LA fire chief..." Kymber turned away.
"Who says that he has to find out?" Bobby smirked.
"You mean you want to keep this a secret? Like, keep doing what we just did, behind everyone's backs?" Kymber asked.
"Isn't this what you wanted? Because it is what I wanted." Bobby leaned against the door frame.
"I mean, it is, but I don't want to get in trouble for dating you..." Kymber said.
"Who's to say we're dating? We could just be friends who sometimes kiss." Bobby laughed.
"I'm serious, Bobby. What are we doing?" Kymber asked.
"Can we talk about this on the way to work? We're going to be late if we don't leave now." Bobby said as he brushed past her towards the stairs. He stopped halfway down the stair case to turn around and give Kymber another kiss.
"Stop distracting me from what we need to discuss." Kymber blushed.
"But I like it." Bobby said as he ran the rest of the way down the stairs.
"This is definitely a different Bobby than the one I was talking to at the station yesterday..." Kymber rolled her eyes as she followed him out to his car.
"So, about that stuff we need to discuss?" Bobby asked as he opened the driver's side door.
"Yeah, about that." Kymber said, getting into the passenger seat, "Are you sure you want to risk everything to be with me?"
"I know we've barely just met, but I already feel things for you that I haven't felt in a long time... So I say, we just lay low for a while, and if things go well, then I will bring it up with the fire chief... How does that sound?" Bobby asked.
"Well, I guess I'm alright with that... I mean, I feel the same way. That's why I was so flustered when I saw you yesterday. I felt all these things, just to have those feelings crushed by finding out that you're my new boss." Kymber buckled her seat belt.
"So we're doing this, then?" Bobby looked over at her. Kymber leaned over and kissed him.
"We're doing this." Kymber smirked as Bobby started the car and drove off towards the station.
