"See ya, cap! Bye Kymber!" Hen waved as Bobby and Kymber left for the day.

"Bye guys!" Kymber waved back. Bobby and Kymber walked over to his car and got in.

"Well... That was fun." Bobby laughed as he started the car.

"What?" Kymber smirked.

"Playing pretend." Bobby smiled, as he leaned over.

"No." Kymber looked around, "Not here. We don't want anyone to see."

"Fair enough." Bobby sat back up straight.

"Well, go then." Kymber laughed.

"Right." Bobby said as he drove off.

"So... What happens now?" Kymber asked, looking out the window.

"We're going to Santa Monica... Go out for dinner, take a walk on the pier. See where the night takes us." Bobby smiled.

"But... Santa Monica is still LA. What if someone you know sees us?" Kymber asked.

"It's a big place, Kymberly. It will be fine." Bobby grabbed her hand. She looked down and smiled. "Are you alright with this?"

"I mean, it's all happening so fast... But I think that I am alright with it." Kymber looked up at him, "Like we said before, we've never felt like this before... And I mean, come on. I'm thirty-six and you're forty-two. I think by now, we both know what we want."

"That is very true. I do know what I want." Bobby smiled over at her.

"Me too." Kymber grinned.

"Thank you for taking this risk with me." Bobby laughed as he pulled into a parking space in front of the pier.

"Woah. This is beautiful." Kymber said as she looked over the skyline.

"You've never been to Santa Monica?" Bobby asked.

"Never." Kymber said as she opened her door.

"You have lived in California your whole life, and never came here? This was one of the first places that I came when I moved here." Bobby laughed as he got out of the car.

"You're not from here?" Kymber looked over at him.

"I am not." Bobby looked away.

"Where are you from? Why did you move here?" Kymber asked.

"I'm from Minnesota... As for why I came here, I don't think that is quite a first date conversation..." Bobby said, "Why don't we head out onto the pier."

"Don't try to change the subject. I want to know." Kymber walked around the car to stand next to him.

"Kymber, it really isn't a first date conversation. If I tell you, it might change how you see me." Bobby leaned against the car.

"Well, isn't it better to find out now if it changes how I see you, rather than later?" Kymber grabbed his hand.

"I guess so... But you have to promise not to tell anyone." Bobby said.

"I promise." Kymber looked up into his eyes.

"Why don't we find a bench or something?" Bobby asked.

"As long as it makes you stop stalling." Kymber laughed as they walked onto the pier and found a bench facing the water.

"Alright... Here it goes." Bobby said, sitting down on the bench, "Ten years ago, I killed my wife and children."

"You what?!" Kymber backed up.

"Please, just let me explain... I used to be an alcoholic and a drug addict. I swear that I am well past that point in my life. Because of my addictions, I rented a second apartment that I didn't tell my wife about. Not every night, but most I would tell her I was going on a walk, but instead I would go to that other apartment. I would drink and pop pills, all while wrapped in blankets, sitting in front of a coil space heater... One night, I went up to the roof and fell asleep, only to be woken up by the sound of sirens. I left my space heater on, and instead of tripping the circuit, it sparked and caught on fire. I tried to get to them, Marcy, Robert Jr., and Brook, but the floor caved in below me. I tried to pull myself back up to get to the door, but the firefighters grabbed me and wouldn't let me. Neither of the kids made it through the fire. Marcy did, but she died a few days later from her burns." Bobby looked out over the ocean.

"Bobby, I had no idea... I'm so sorry." Kymber said.

"There's no reason to feel sorry for me... I killed a lot of people." Bobby looked down.
