"Those poor kids. All they wanted was to have a nice prom." Kymber said when they returned back to the firehouse.
"I know... It's so sad." Hen said as they walked up the stairs.
"I never got to go to prom, and sadly they won't either." Kymber looked down.
"You never went to prom?" Bobby looked over at her.
"No... I mean, you should understand. When we were their age, you didn't go to prom unless you had a date. Now everyone just goes with friends and skips the having a date part." Kymber sighed.
"No one ever asked you?" Chimney asked as he sat down at the table.
"Look, I know it might be hard to believe, but I wasn't all that popular in high school... There were more guys than girls in my grade, so the odds were already stacked against me... I did get asked on a date once, though." Kymber chuckled before a frown came over her face.
"Hey, it doesn't matter to me how popular you were in high school. I think you're amazing. I'd ask you to prom any day." Bobby kissed the top of her head.
"Get a room." Hen laughed as Buck and Eddie made puking faces.
"Thanks, Bobby... But that doesn't change the fact that I didn't get asked in high school." Kymber said.
"Why not? Every few years we have a firefighter's ball, and actually I think this is the year." Bobby smiled.
"You're right. I totally forgot about that... It's next month!" Hen looked down at the calendar on her phone.
"Well then... Kymberly Amelia Douglass, would you do me the honor of accompanying me to the firefighter's ball?" Bobby asked.
"Oh come on, Bobby. You've gotta do better than that." Hen scoffed.
"What? What do you mean?" Bobby looked over at Hen.
"Haven't you heard of promposals?" Hen smirked.
"Uh... No?" Bobby looked around.
"She's never been to a prom... She's never been asked to a prom. You need to make it big. Something she will remember." Hen said.
"So... Like a real proposal... But for prom? Or I guess in this case, the firefighter's ball?" Bobby looked confused.
"Exactly... Kymber, you don't say yes until he makes it big." Hen laughed.
"Alright, Hen." Kymber smirked.
"Oh great. Thanks for that, Hen." Bobby chuckled.
"Anytime, cap." Hen smiled.
"Are you guys going to the ball?" Kymber looked over at Buck, Eddie, and Chimney.
"Nah. That stuff is for girls." Eddie laughed.
"Oh really?" Bobby looked at him and crossed his arms.
"No... Of course not, cap." Eddie chuckled nervously.
"I'm not big on dances." Chimney leaned back.
"I bet your girl is." Hen said.
"I don't think Maddie is into that kind of stuff." Chimney looked around.
"Maddie? Oh no, she is definitely into that kind of stuff. She lived for dances in high school." Buck smirked.
"No one tells her about the ball." Chimney turned around.
"She's going to find out one way or another, Chim." Bobby said, "Why are you so set on not going?"
"I'm a terrible dancer. I don't want to embarrass her or myself." Chimney sighed.
"Who says that I'm a good dancer?" Bobby looked at him.
"Bobby, you were a figure skater. That's gotta help some." Buck said.
"Wait... You were a figure skater?!" Kymber looked up at Bobby.
"Yes... I was a figure skater." Bobby sighed.
"A champion figure skater." Eddie laughed.
"Yeah yeah... My partner and I won a few competitions... It's no big deal." Bobby shrugged.
"Whatever... I bet we still have that cardboard cut out somewhere." Hen said as Chimney got up to go look for it.
"Don't you dare." Bobby chuckled.
"Oh fine..." Chimney slumped back down into the chair.
"Anyways... Chim, ask Maddie to go to the ball with you. She's not going to care if you're a good dancer or not. She's just going to be excited to dance with you." Bobby said.
"Alright, fine... I know Buck is going to tell her anyways." Chimney hunched over.
"Now you two... You better go, too. I want to see the entire 118 there, got it?" Bobby looked over to Buck and Eddie.
"Do we have to, cap?" Buck whined.
"You heard the man." Hen stood up and crossed her arms.
"Ugh. Fine. We'll go to the ball... Do we have to get monkey suits?" Eddie asked.
"Monkey suits?" Kymber looked at him.
"Yeah. Like frilly tuxedos with bow ties and cummerbunds... Monkey suits." Eddie explained.
"No, you don't have to wear monkey suits." Bobby smirked.
"Oh thank god." Buck sighed in relief.
"But, you have to wear your Class A uniforms." Bobby smiled.
"Awe come on." Eddie groaned.
"We don't even have Class A uniforms, cap." Chimney said.
"You get one set free for being in the department... So I think it's time to go cash in and get fitted for some." Bobby said.
"Man. This is going to suck." Buck looked down.
"No it's not... I'll call the chief and get you some appointments set up for tomorrow after work. I'll go with you." Bobby said, "Mine might need to be altered anyways."
"Dress shopping?" Hen smirked at Kymber.
"Dress shopping." Kymber nodded.
