"Hey everyone! Could I get your attention please?" Hen called out as she stood up on the middle of the long table. The numerous conversations slowly trickled out and silence filled the room. All of the eyes in the room turned to Hen. Everyone they knew was there, Kymber's parents, even her sister came out for the gender reveal. Carla, Christopher, Karen and the kids, Tommy, Sal, Athena, Maddie, and all of their other friends had gathered to celebrate Bobby and Kymber's baby. "We are so glad that everyone could make it out today, especially Bobby and Kymber. So I will hand this over to them!"
"Hi everyone. We really are glad you could join us today... It means so much. We are beyond excited for our baby to come, and we're excited to find out if it is a boy or a girl. But, all we really care about is that the baby is healthy." Bobby stepped up next to Hen. He had a pink button on his shirt that read 'team girl'.
"Yes! We just want a healthy baby. The gender doesn't matter." Kymber smiled as Bobby wrapped his arm around her. She had a blue button that read 'team boy' over the baby bump.
"Alright! Here we are!" Chimney said bringing over the cake and the balloon.
"So what we are going to have you do is, one of you cuts into the cake while the other pops the balloon." Hen explained, "Whatever color is inside is the gender of your baby!"
"I'm so excited!" Kymber looked at Bobby.
"I'll let you pop the balloon, ok?" Bobby grinned as Hen handed him a knife and a server, Kymber nodded and grabbed the balloon and the needle.
"Let's count them down." Eddie held his hand up with three fingers extended.
"3... 2... 1!" Everyone cheered as Kymber popped the balloon and pink confetti came raining down.
"It's a girl!" Kymber exclaimed.
"Uh... Are you sure?" Bobby asked, pulling out the piece of cake that he cut, revealing blue frosting in the middle.
"Wait... What?" Kymber looked confused.
"Surprise!" Hen threw her hands up in the air.
"Surprise?" Bobby and Kymber looked at each other.
"You're having twins!" Hen said, excitedly.
"We are?" Bobby's eyes lit up as he squeezed Kymber tight. Everyone in the room cheered again.
"Twins?" Kymber looked petrified.
"Yes! Twins." Hen said.
"Why didn't the doctor tell us?" Kymber looked up at Bobby.
"Maybe he thought he did? I mean... He did say their genders earlier... I thought he just misspoke... But maybe not." Bobby said.
"There's two of them..." Kymber said, starting to get a little dizzy.
"Oh my god. Kymber!" Buck leaped in behind her and helped Bobby catch her.
"Is she ok?" Chimney ran over.
"She passed out." Bobby looked up at Chimney.
"Alright everyone, we are going to need you to clear a path for us." Hen motioned towards the center of the group, "Hopefully this will get resolved quickly."
"Where are we taking her?" Eddie asked as he helped Buck lift Kymber up.
"Take her to my office for now. I'll take care of her. You guys socialize." Bobby waved Chimneh and Hen off.
"Are you sure, cap?" Chimney asked.
"Yes. I'm sure." Bobby said as he followed behind as Eddie and Buck carried Kymber down the stairs.
"Twins, huh? That's going to be fun." Athena smirked as she walked up to Hen.
"I just hope Kymber warms up to the idea." Hen said.
"She will. It's just a little shocking." Athena crossed her arms.
"Momma! Does this mean Nia and I both get a new friend?!" Denny ran up to Hen and pulled on her jacket.
"You both get two new friends." Hen smiled, "You know you can have the same friends as your sister, right?"
"Yeah... Like Christopher! He's my friend and Nia's friend!" Denny pointed over to Christopher who was laughing with Chimney and Carla.
"Exactly." Hen said as Misty and Eugene walked over, "Mr. and Mrs. Douglass! Hi!"
"Hello, Hen." Misty smiled, "That was quite the surprise there."
"Indeed it was." Hen sighed.
"Not only did he knock her up... He knocked her up with twins." Eugene huffed under his breath.
"Excuse me, sir. I know I don't know you very well, and I know she's your daughter, but I'd appreciate if you'd stop talking about my friends like that. They did nothing wrong. They are both adults and can make their own choices." Hen crossed her arms and faces towards Eugene.
"What happened to waiting until marriage." Eugene scoffed.
"With all due respect, that hasn't been a thing for a long time. No, not everyone gets pregnant, but most people don't wait. It just happened that her birth control didn't work, or a condom broke or something. But that doesn't give you reason to judge them." Hen said.
"Henrietta is right, Eugene. You need to stop acting like she's a child. She hasn't been a child for years." Misty sighed.
"Still doesn't mean I like it." Eugene hung his head.
