"What happened?" Bobby asked as he jumped out of the fire truck. The 118 had just arrived on the scene of a traffic accident between a limo and a taxi.
"Taxi driver claims he saw a car run across the street, and when he swerved to avoid it, he didn't happen to see that his light was red." Athena explained, walking over, "They need you're help in there. They're pretty well stuck."
"Got it. Eddie, get the jaws!" Bobby called over his shoulder as he placed his helmet on his head. He ran over to the limo and stuck his head through the broken passenger side window. He reached his arm out to check the driver's pulse, but there wasn't one.
"Help us." a young man moaned, his legs pinned under the seat.
"We are going to get you out of there, alright?" Bobby looked around, everyone else looked to be unresponsive, "Can you tell me, are your friends alright?"
"I... I don't know... Max and Laina were talking a few minutes ago... But they stopped. I haven't heard anyone else say anything." the young man looked at Bobby with a terrified look on his face, "Are they going to die?"
"We are going to do everything that we can. What's your name?" Bobby asked.
"Joshua... Please don't let me die." Joshua said as he started to cry.
"Alright, Joshua, my name is Bobby. I'm a firefighter. We're going to help you out of here. You're going to be alright." Bobby said, "I have to go get some equipment, but I will be right back."
"How's it looking in there, cap?" Hen asked as Bobby ran up to the fire truck to grab a backboard and a few neck braces.
"The driver didn't make it... We've only got one conscious. His name is Joshua. I can't tell how the others are doing until we get in there." Bobby watched as Eddie started cutting at the limo door with the jaws.
"Do we have names for the others?" Kymber looked at him.
"Only two of the other four. Max and Laina. They are the ones up near the front." Bobby said as he headed back over to the limo.
"It's amazing that the taxi driver wasn't hurt. I mean, he's out and walking around." Kymber said, she looked over to where Chimney was checking on the driver.
"I wouldn't say amazing. I would say unfair. It's his fault these kids are in the mess that they are in." Hen sighed as she made her way to the limo.
"How are you doing, Joshua?" Bobby asked.
"I'm starting to feel a lot of pain." Joshua said, sweat dripping down his face.
"That's good. You still have sensation in your legs. That's a good sign." Bobby smiled, "Once my friend Eddie here is done cutting the door off, my other friends Hen and Kymber are going to come in and help get you out of there, alright?"
"Alright." Joshua nodded.
"Joshua, can you tell me the names of your other two friends?" Bobby asked, as Eddie pulled the door off.
"Margie and Ryan." Joshua closed his eyes tightly, "It hurts so bad."
"I know it does, bud. But it's going to be alright, I promise." Hen said as she ducked into the limo.
"We were supposed to be going to dinner. Prom is tonight. This was supposed to be a good night." Joshua cried.
"It still will be a good night, Joshua. You know why?" Kymber looked at him.
"No... Why?" Joshua slowly looked over to her.
"Because you're going to get out of here alive." Kymber smiled.
"Alright, Joshua. I have to get your legs out from under the seat. This is going to hurt." Hen looked at him and he nodded, "On the count of three... One... Two... Three!"
"Ahhhh!" Joshua yelled as Hen freed his legs.
"We're going to get you to the hospital soon, they will give you pain meds to make you feel better." Kymber said as she placed one of the neck braces around his neck.
"Thank you." Joshua cried as they placed him on the backboard.
"We've got him." Bobby said as Hen and Kymber slid the backboard over to the door. Bobby and Eddie lifted the backboard and placed it on a stretcher to bring him to the ambulance. Hen and Kymber moved around the ambulance checking for signs of life.
"Neither of them made it." Hen said, crouched over at the front of the limo by Max and Laina.
"Margie did though." Kymber said kneeling down next to her.
"Ryan?" Hen asked, but Kymber just shook her head.
