Chapter 33 - Fox(es) Business

Happiness is always too short. In Fengjiu's case, it's not just too short, it's extremely short each time she finds or gets some. As morning fastly arrived, Donghua and Fengjiu had to return to TaiChen Palace. Fengjiu was still unhappy about it since she heard it. She liked the lifestyle that they lived in the Mortal Realm for the simple mortal two years. In the immortal's eyes, the two years in the Mortal Realm is just a blink of an eye. There is nothing really to hold onto or even worth remembering. But to Fengjiu, it was a romantic time that Donghua gave her. Going back to Nine Heaven, a place full of gossip, plottings, wars and hatreds, just brings her mood down.

If it was just going back to Qingqiu she wouldn't be this upset. Qingqiu is free of all the gossip, plottings, wars and hatreds. Everything was so simple there, just like the Mortal Realm. But no, her husband had to be the former owner of heaven and earth. Where he is in the center of all those things she hated. But love can blind someone from everything. As long as Donghua loves her she is willing to accept anything. But she will put up a little show of her foxy attitudes first, so she wouldn't be taken for granted.

As Donghua was about to leave, Fengjiu didn't make a budge at all. She stayed in the house where they were staying, sitting still on their bed. Donghua extends his hand out to gesturing her to come over to him. But she crossed her arms and looked away from Donghua. She was acting like a baby girl at this point. No common sense will get to her. Donghua hasn't seen her this childish before, but he likes this side of her a lot. He likes it when she acts like this towards him. Only she would dare to talk back to him and say no. Only she would dare to show him attitude, fight back and play tricks on him. She is the only one that he allows to do these acts towards him. If it was anyone else that dares to talk back they would have been dead not from Cang'he but from his sweet and sour fish.

Donghua knows she is unhappy and not willing to go back at all. In order to take her back with him, he turned her back into her fox form and carried her in his arms, all the way back to TaiChen Palace. They passed a lot of immortals on their way and everyone was quietly chit-chatting about this scene. Fengjiu can care less about anything but coming back. Donghua was happy to be displaying this affection to the public because he is just shameless. Also, he knows she's too soft-hearted towards him. She will give in after he does something romantic or face degrading acts. Faces, to him, who is already shameless doesn't really mean anything. The most important thing is to cheer his wife up again.

This actually has softened her heart a lot, especially when Donghua keeps petting her head and scratching the back of her ears. She loves it when he scratches the back of her ears because he always finds the right spots. This is what he always did back then, three hundred years ago. She finds it very comfortable and pleasing right now on a hot summer day. So she keeps pretending to be unhappy so that he can continue doing what he's doing to cheer her up. Obviously, Donghua knows that but won't say it, just to make her happy. Fengjiu feels even happier knowing that her little scheme is also working on this mighty god and she is gaining the upper hands.

As he settles down in the main hall with her in his arms, two unwanted guests pay them a visit. Haode and Xuyang both were led into the hall by Zhonglin. "Dijun." Haode greets Donghua with a nod. "Xuyang greets Donghua Dijun." he formally greets and bows. Donghua doesn't say anything and just nods his head to acknowledge them. Haode takes a seat on the side while Xuyang still stands in the middle of the hall. "Xuyang Demon Lord, you may take a seat." Donghua coldly says without looking at them. All his attention was on his precious wife. He keeps petting her head and smoothing her furs out like those two weren't there at all.

Zhonglin re-enters the main hall with four cups of tea. Two maids took one cup each and placed it on Tianjun and Demon Lord's tables. While Zhonglin places both cups on Donghua's table, Haode looks confused. He wonders why there were two cups of tea on Donghua's table when there is only him and a fox. Haode never saw the Bais in their fox form and Donghua has hidden Fengjiu's nine tails into one tail, so he is confused with who the baby fox is. Donghua can never let others see Fengjiu's true form because she was just too charming.
