Fengjiu was startled when the maid outside her chambers called out "Your majesty". She quickly throws the scroll aside, trying to cover herself with the duvet but then realizes she needs to spray some tea on herself to make it look like she was suffering from lots of pain. Then she quickly crawls back into bed, in less than a minute the king walks in.

Fengjiu slowly tries to get up and weakly says "Your majesty". The king walks in a hurry to her side trying to hold her up. "Come... what is causing your sudden stomach pains? And you're sweating so much. I also heard you went to the Noble Consort's Taoist temple today." he says while embracing her in one arm.

"Umm, I did go to the Taoist temple." she replies but in her mind, she was thinking of;

"Gugu always taught me when I was young, to be worthy of my identity as a princess of Qingqiu. How can I act like a raving lunatic and cause harm to such a benevolent woman who is devoted to Taoism?"

"Jiu'er?" he calls.

In her mind again she rambles:

"No, no, doing this would be too much of a disappointment to gugu. I must change the plan."

"I did go to the Taoist temple." she answers again while trying to get up facing the king. "But this has nothing to do with the Noble Consort. Your majesty, please do not imagine things. I secretly played in the water a few days ago and caught a cold. It has nothing to do with sister Noble Consort." she replies to him in a weak little voice.

"Of course I would not blame her. I understand very well the sort of person the Noble Consort is." he says while looking away. Then he turns back looking at her, "But you did not treasure your own body. Have you considered my feelings?" he asks with a worried face.

Fengjiu reaches out with her hand and tries to smooth out the wrinkles on his forehead. "I was too mischievous, I've caused your majesty to worry too much." she apologies. He grabs her hand and places it in between both of his. "Jiu'er... I was very afraid you were going to say it was the Noble Consort who harmed you." he says with a relieved sigh.

She looks at his eyes and then wanders away. "Since you had that speculation, if I really had said that would your majesty have believed me?" she asks. He looks away and lets out a breath. "No I wouldn't." he replies then looking down at his hands with hers in them.

Fengjiu also looks down at her hand and pulls her hand out of his grip looking a bit sad. "Yes, I'd forgotten. When I was still an Honored Lady, your majesty had come to speak of your grievances because of the heartbreak that Noble Consort caused you. Of course, you would trust her and not me." she says with disappointment while looking away from him.

He lets out a little laugh, looking back at her. "I believe both of you." as he says this Fengjiu raises her head and looks back at him. "Noble Consort has long since abandoned human society... and you... you are the one that I love the most. You have a pure and kind disposition. And you will never harm her." he says while touching her face and moving the strands of hair out of the way.

He turns his head looking up to the wall "I was very anxious on my way here, I clearly knew that with Noble Consort's character, she will never do such a thing. However, I could imagine if anything were to happen to you I would never forgive anyone in the Taoist temple." he says while looking back at her.

In her eyes now she could see how much he loves her and she felt ashamed that she was going to follow through with Siming's plan on framing Noble Consort. He then looked away again to continue his words. "It seems like I have the skills of becoming a fatuous ruler." he laughs out.

She has a small smile on the edge of her lips when she hears what he just said. "Your majesty is you really speaking the truth?" she questions him. He turns back and looks straight into her eyes "The absolute truth." he says reaching his hand to her shoulder. "If anything were to happen to you I would lose all my reason." he says.
