Chapter 24 - Wait! What? How Long Has It Been?

Fengjiu's eyes start to stir, she can feel a warmth embracing her tightly. She blinks her eyes a few times trying to get a clear vision of the surroundings but she can't see anyone besides her. "Where is he?" she wonders. She rubs her eyes with her little fists then looks down and realizes that Donghua was hugging her around the torso with his head buried into her chest. Fengjiu immediately blushes from embarrassment. But at the same time very touched and happy to see him so in love with her.

She was only sleeping, but the way he is holding onto her, it looks like she is all ready to run away from him. She starts softly stroking his head. "Whenever he sleeps, his hair is always unkempt." she thought in her mind and giggles at the thought of him acting like a child when he is supposed to be the oldest one. She keeps combing through his hair with her fingers so it would be untangled and Donghua starts to stir from it. He pretends to be still in a deep sleep.

Donghua really likes this feeling of being taken care of by the one he truly loves. Ever since he came into existence in this world, he was always alone and had no one to love him or care for him. He was bullied every day by stronger beings, beasts and animals. Even though he was taken in by Zhihe's parents, they only did that because of Heavenly Father, not out of their kind hearts. They were also very skeptical about keeping a child that has white hair in their home. Who would have known that one day that white headed child would become the unifier of all realms? Who would have thought that one day everyone would be afraid to mess with him?

Donghua never had learned what is love from anyone until this stubborn baby red nine tail fox barged into his life that day in Mount Junji. All his life, he was simply waiting for the time where the world needed him to save or till the day he fades into the realm of nothingness. Now he has a new meaning in life, to be loved by his baby fox and to love his baby fox. He will do everything he can to ensure that she is happy and safe. If this world no longer has this baby fox in it then this world means nothing to him anymore. His life will mean nothing to him anymore either.

This kind of feeling, he never thought he would ever have to go through. He had once planned on erasing his name from the Rock of Three Incarnation, so he can be invincible. But who knew that because of an emergency war he was immediately called to, have stopped him from doing so. Then after the war, he was too lazy to resume his plans and until recently he completely forgot that he hasn't done so. That idea that he had in his head just has turned into a lie to every, even to himself. He really should thank Miao Lou for the sudden attack that day. Otherwise, his name would have been completely erased from the stupid rock and he and Fengjiu would be still having heartache for each other. Even though the name beside hers is not his, at least his name is on the rock. Now it's easier just to change the fated one instead of putting someone back onto the rock.

"Xiaobai, you're awake... how are you feeling? Donghua mumbles under his voice while staying in the same position. "Mmm... I feel okay... just my body is all stiff... How long have I been sleeping?" she softly asks while still stroking his head with one hand and combing his hair with the other. "It's been three years Xiaobai..." he mumbles back to her. "WHAT!" she shockingly screams out while trying to move but then she lets out a yelp of pain. "Owww!" Donghua quickly gets up from where he was laying and starts hovering over her body. "Xiaobai what is it? Where do you feel uncomfortable?" he hurryingly asks while his hands are holding onto her upper arms, trying to help her up.

"Dong...hua... Don't move me... my back... is hurting me..." she shudders in pain with heavy breathing. Donghua was scared and didn't know how to help her. So he slowly lifts her in his arms to turn her into a different position. "Is that better Xiaobai? It's probably that you were sleeping in that position for too long." Donghua softly says out while softly stroking her face. "Dijun, are you serious that I've slept for three years? What about gugu's wedding?" she worryingly asks. "Xiaobai, not you, it's us. Remember what I said? I needed you to sleep for a while so you can fully recover." he softly reminds her. "Yes, I remember that but I thought you meant for a few months..." she replies while lightly nodding her head. "Your gugu's wedding is next month. But I was anticipating that you will wake up ten days before the wedding." he says while laying back down beside her with one arm supporting his head.
