Chapter 42 - Like Husband, Like Wife Part 2 ~ Red Handed

Donghua was really bored sitting alone in his seat at the meeting, listening to a bunch of useless clan leaders complaining about the smallest peanuts. The only ones that were quiet and useful were all the Qingqiu people and maybe a few secluded clans. "Why can't everyone just be like the people in Qingqiu?" he ponders in his mind. "Tianjun, I think it will be good for us all if we have a marriage alliance with Nine Heaven as well." the Eastern Sea Lord says. "We also had that thought in mind as well!" the leader of the Spiritual Tiger clan. "I do think that is a really good idea as well!" Hoade happily laughs out.

"My sister Miaoqing has admired the crown prince for a long time! I believe that this would be a good marriage alliance." the Easter Sea Lord says. "My daughter Mingyu has admired the Third Prince LianSong for quite a while. I wish for her to marry into Nine Heaven." the Southern Sea Lord says. "These are very good alliances. I shouldn't turn down any of them! The more the merrier!" Haode things in his mind. The Bais are all staring at Haode with deadly eyes waiting for him to say one wrong word. They will not let their first princess suffer in Nine Heaven like this.

Haode can see that all the foxes and the only phoenix are unhappy with what they heard and they are all ready to tear him apart if he says something that they don't like. "These are all very good suggestions. We will need to discuss everything in detail before making the final decisions." Haode chooses his words wisely before saying them out loud. Donghua knows if Haode forces Yehua and LianSong to marry other women, Fengjiu will get furious and upset. He knows she will end up running up to Haode and start arguing. He doesn't want her to end up like last time, with the Sujin's trial or end up seeing her get upset before their wedding. So he has no choice but to intervene before things get nasty.

"Tianjun, let me remind you! Qingqiu follows the custom of; one husband, one wife eternally. If you force the crown prince to marry another woman, you might just anger, Baiqian. Which will then anger Fox King, ZheYan and Qingqiu. Also, she is the beloved youngest disciple of the God of War. You will gain a little but end up losing a lot at the end, if all of them decide to avenge her. As for LianSong, he has his own path to walk. Forcing him to marry someone he has no interest in will make him distant from you more, just like Sangji." Donghua telepathically says to Haode.

Haode doesn't want to upset Qingqiu or Kunlun Mount at all. So he has to put aside the thought of forcing his grandson to marry another woman. As for LianSong, he is in charge of the four seas, if he leaves as well, like Sangji, it will mean that he will lose the support from all Sea clans. Also, his mother is not going to like it either, just like how she does not like him having that many women in the harem either. She could end up persuading her clan to no longer support him in Nine Heaven. He needs to recalculate the loss and gain before pursuing any of his plans.

After Donghua warns him, everyone continues talking about marriage alliances between all the other clans and tribes, Donghua starts playing with the teacup in his hand. Well actually, I really want to eat my little fox again, instead!" as he continues thinking in his mind until all of a sudden he hears bells ringing, disturbing his thoughts.

The way the bells are ringing was very different from how Fengjiu would use to ring them. "That doesn't sound like how she would ring them... Is she just ringing it because she is bored or is she just jumping and running around?" he contemplates in his mind. But he doesn't want to take any chances, so he quickly vanishes from the court hall in the middle of the discussion of who should marry the daughter of the Spiritual Tiger clan. Everyone at the meeting was really surprised at his action. But nobody can say anything about it, so gossip starts to arise in the hall.
