Chapter 35 - Fox Play, Triple Kill, Quadra Kill

After a long day in the historical archive, Donguha decides to return to TaiChen Palace to spend some time with his little baby fox. He assumes she must be up by now. He doesn't want her to suspect anything out of the ordinary of his disappearance and his little scheme on Jiheng. He changes into his so-called 'newly acquired fox form' and copies her way of running along the roof of the palaces and jumps down, landing right beside his beloved mate where he has expected she would be.

Fengjiu was too busy focusing on where her prey was swimming. Her eyes were locked on one particular fish in the lotus pond while she happily swayed her tail. She was waiting for the fish to come close to her so she could strike it with her claws. What she didn't anticipate was for her mighty husband to run along the roofs of the palaces and jump down to scare her, making her jump back a few feet and panting. Once her eyes fall on his figure, she starts to huff and puffs in anger. She is mad that he made her lose her big fat fish and for scaring her like this. What if others saw that she was that easy to be scared? She stomps all four paws and marches back in front of Donghua.

"Are you trying to scare me to death! If you are then you have to look for a new bride for the wedding next month! Maybe Jiheng would be a good replacement since she is in the palace right now! Very convenient! Hmph!" she growls out loudly at him while stomping on all four paws. "Xiaobai, why would I want to look for a new bride when the perfect one is right in front of my eyes, right now! I didn't mean to scare you. I was just doing what my baby fox normally does. Running along the roofs and just jumping in whenever she feels like it. Did I do a good job?" he teasingly says while rubbing his head under her chin.

"HEY! That is my calling card! Who said you can copy my trademark! Hmph!" she unhappily snorts out while closing her eyes and turning her head away from him. After a few seconds, she opens one eye to peek at him. He is still rubbing his head under her head which softens her heart. "You... you did do a good job at it... even though it's your first time! You do have the potential and talent to become a real fox! That is because you have a good teacher, like me! Without the Qingqiu king of mischief, how could you have learned so fast!" she proudly purrs out.

"Of course, my wife is the best! Even if I try to copy her calling card, I still wouldn't do such a good job as her! That is why we are a perfect match, master of the universe and mistress of mischief." he happily praises her while circling her and tickling her with his tail. Fengjiu was all happy now, from all the praise that he is giving her all in one go. Fengjiu starts to feel naughty so she tugs on his tail with her mouth and purrs out "You're it!" and runs away from him. "Catch me if you can! No magic! NO cheating like last time!" she whines out while running away from him. Donghua raises one eyebrow and smirks. "Don't let me catch you at all or I will severely punish you tonight!" he yells out.

Donghua starts chasing Fengjiu around the whole palace, all the maids were already sent away for the evening. Fengjiu is happily jumping from tree to tree and rock to rock. Donghua could obviously calculate her next steps or use magic to catch her without her knowing. But he did it on purpose, failing to catch her just to see her smile and listen to her joyful laughter. Also what fun would it be if he ended the game so fast, and she does need the exercise and stretching from all the sleeping she had.

As she made her next jump she didn't anticipate that someone was going to walk in through the palace gates as she landed right there. She ends up landing right on top of Jiheng's head, shocking her to her death. Jiheng was overly tired from a long day of hunting for information, scared to death twice in a row and now she gets scared again and also gets physically hit. She doesn't know what is attacking her so she flings her hand very hard, throwing Fengjiu off of her head. Luckily Donghua wasn't far away and Fengiju had his Tianguang shield.
