Serene POV

As we continued running down the hall, Kurt materialized in front of Scott.

"AH! Jesus!" He yelled.

"Oh, sorry!" Kurt yelled back.

This way!" I shouted, turning the corner.

With her Telekinesis, Jean opened the black metal door and we stepped inside. As the lights started to turn on, I could see a big shape in the center of the room. It was a black flyer! Like the one Hank used to have in the school, but only a different color.

"Nice," Scott sighed, looking at the flight suits.

"Hey, Hank, do you think you can fly this thing?" I asked, turning to Hank.

"Yeah, I can figure it out." Hank said, shrugging. He was still in his furry blue beast form.

"Hey guys," Scott called, opening one of the flight suit cases. "Flight suits." Raven turned to Hank.

"You got your warplane," She said. "Let's go to war."

~
It was an absolute miracle that we had found a small flight suit. Going to war in jeans and a sweatshirt were not the best idea.

Peter sat next to me chewing gum. The plane was vibrating a little bit, but it felt nice. Well, nice compared to what would be happening in an hour or so. Jean was the first to break the silence.

"Were you scared?" She asked Raven. "That day in D.C., were you scared?"

"No." Raven said calmly. She paused for a moment. "But I was scared on my first mission. I was on a plane like this with my friends. About your age. We called ourselves the X-Men." She turned to Scott. "Your brother was there. We used to call him Havok. He was a real handful...but when it came down to it, he was very brave." Then she turned to me. "And your dad was there. " I couldn't help but give a small smile. At least he wasn't always bad.

"What happened to the rest of the kids who went with you?" Kurt asked. "The X-Men?"

"Hank and I are the only ones left." She said after a minute. "I couldn't save the rest of them. I told you, I'm not a hero."

"Well, you're a hero to us." I said. "Seeing you that day on TV changed my life."

"Mine too." Kurt said.

"Mine too." Peter said. "I mean I still live in my mom's basement but, you know...Everything else is, uh....Oh, it's pretty much the same." I couldn't help but give a small smile. Peter was always the kind of comic relief person.

"Yeah, you're a total loser." I said sarcastically. The rest laughed while Peter ruffled my hair.

"See guys, this is what I had to deal with." He said laughing. Then the place got quiet again after a few moments. I sighed and put my head against the wall of the plane. I didn't know what to think. What if my dad really was a bad guy? Could he change? Or who I have to....no, I couldn't think like that. I tried not to think about it for the rest of the trip. But one thing was for certain. No matter what lied ahead, I was completely, and utterly, terrified. And if I survived, I would never be the same.
